Mobile L.A.S Vegas four times - Day 3 - Bodies, outlets, Mat Franco and the high roller

So today was the day we had pencilled for ihop and outlets! We had not fully decided due to the ihop we were planning on visiting down by the strat closing down and also wanting to visit the outlets down by the strat... well watch this space as *spoiler alert* plan goes out the window!

We woke up and got ourselves ready and I'm fairly sure had some sort of frozen mocha in the room courtesy of Tom's morning cigarette. The benefits of a non smoking room - I don't have to put up with him smoking in the room AND I always get morning coffee bought up to me since hes gone downstairs anyway! Winner!

Neil and Liv weren't awake for long at the point we were already ready so we decided to pop downstairs and check out "Bodies" at Ballys exhibit. Now forgive me for sounding thick but despite the description I just was not ready for what it was!

We all decided none of us fancied ihop as none of us wanted breakfast food so we decided we'd think about food later. Perhaps cheesecake factory at the outlets near the strat...

We headed down and I decided I was not paying full price given the number of vouchers I'd seen online before we came so I sat outside and bought a travelzoo voucher! Tom decided he wanted a quick cigarette before we went in which meant going back up to casino floor so I had a mooch in a couple of the shops.

We entered Bodies and were told we could take photos on our way round. In we went and my best deacription and most used word was "Ewww"! I suddenly realised that I may be ever so slightly hungover and this exhibit is a lot weirder than I thought it would be! It was fascinating but so gross! I will post a couple of pics but not many so as easy to scroll past!

Well, me being the mature lady in my 30s I am... I decided the only way to stop it being gross was to zoom in on naughty male body parts and laugh at some of the inappropriate poses of the bodies! This nearly led to my most embarrassing and expensive part of the holiday - I walked backwards whilst laughing and tripped up backwards and nearly landed straight into one of the full bodies! Oh my god! This shock did nothing to help my finding the whole situation hillarious! It was one of those "not allowed to laugh" quiet places where trying not to laugh becomes funny!

Once I pulled myself together we left the museum via their advert to donate your body for medical science!

We headed up to the casino where we met the others who were now ready. We now had one of those all needing something at separate times moments. Tom went back to the room for something we forgot. Once he came back Neil went off for something so then I went for a quick wee then Liv went for something or other so about 20 minutes later (and a tiny loss in the slots whilst waiting) we were ready to leave!

We got an uber to the outlets... now remember me saying above I wanted to go to the outdoor outlets at the strat end of the strip. Well for some reason I booked the uber to the other ones. Whoops! Worst thing was I didnt notice for ages either that we were driving the wrong way!

We arrived at the outlets and decided all would be fine anyway and headed round some shops.

Some real bargains to be had... I accidentally treated myself to 2 bags - 1 Michael Kors and 1 Kate Spade and picked up my friend a purse she asked for. Liv bought a bag and a purse. The boys left empty handed as decided they didnt need anything.

We were now all starving and the need for food (and maybe a drink after all the shopping) took over. We decided to head to Buffalo Wild Wings since we were at the wrong outlets. This turned out to be a brilliant meal and super cheap for what we had! There was an offer on boneless wings where basically you got double the amount for the same price. The waitress was so lovely describing the options and bringing us some sauces to try to help us decide.

We eventually ordered and food came quickly. It was delicious and really hit the spot. Eyes were definitely bigger than bellies though as we left so much! Not surprised in hindsight looking at the photo however we hadnt eaten yet. The fried pickles were so nice too.

I booked an uber to pick us up and what do you know I ordered to the wrong buffalo wild wings! Today was not my directional best! $5 cancellation fee from the irate driver and a new uber ordered back to the hotel to drop things off.

Here I had a bit of an over tired moment where I suggested we met at Beer Park for a quick drink once we were ready as some wanted to change and I felt I'd spent quite a while sitting waiting today between fag breaks and the morning trip to bodies etc. I'd suggested getting dropped off there and walking to the hotel given so close and was probably just inwardly stroppy I'd not got my own way lol! I was just overly tired as I'd still not had a good nights sleep. We ended up changing the plan a few times and ended up meeting in the hotel and going down to Bird Bar for 50c beers available from 5 till 6. Last year this same offer was 5c! Talk about inflation! This ended up a bad idea as my feet were killing and there was nowhere to sit and my tired wave was in full swing.

We moved on to the linq promenade as we were seeing Mat Franco at 7 and we had to pick up the tickets by 6. While picking up the tickets we bought discounted tickets for the high roller for later in the evning. Tickets collected we decided to go for a frozen baileys from O'Sheas as I've heard so much good things about them.

Oh my god - everyone is right! It basically is like a baileys, chocolate, mocha iced slushee. Incredible! Bit sickly but amazing.

We ended up sitting at the bar outside which was really nice as we realised we'd not really been outside all day! The slushee lifted my spirits ten fold... chocolate, caffeine and alcohol - was a sure thing really! I think the sit down and fresh air sorted me out too. We got chatting to the bar tender who was brilliant fun. He had an absolutely fascinating story for why he moved to Vegas and was great with the flair. The boys had a pink lemonade slushee each and Liv ordered one for the show. I then left the 3 of them to buy drinks for the show whilst I popped to the ladies. I then lost them! I messaged saying to meet me at the escalator rather than wandering back to the bar. Signal was suddenly awful and I couldn't get hold of them. I walked back to the bar and they weren't there. I had all the tickets so was beginning to panic. I stood and waited at the escalator for 5 minutes before deciding to go upstairs in the hope I could find them! What do you know they are all stood upstairs too in the same panic I'm in that they couldn't find me! We had a giggle and took our seats. Tom had ordered me a wine from the chatty bar man who had done me a very very large measure!

Mat Franco was absolutely amazing. He is such a show man and a true natural performer. He is very charismatic and very much held the stage. You may remember from last nights magic show that Liv was not a magic fan however she loved this show. I don't want to give anything away but I do recommend. David Copperfield and Mac King are my 2 favourite Vegas magicians but I think Mat Franco was up in my top picks including above Penn and Teller.

We left the show and headed out to the Linq area where we all stood and buzzed about the show which is always the sign of a great magic show.

We headed along to the High Roller for our next plan of the evening. Turns out the queue that forms isn't a queue you need to join if you've already booked tickets whoops! Luckily we only stood in it 5 minutes until we noticed lol.

We bought a cocktail to take on with us and boarded our pod. We were quite lucky and only had to share with 4 adults and 1 child. The pods are quite big and it was quite peak timing so I was happy enough with this. We took loads of photos and enjoyed the view.

I find this goes so quickly - this was the 3rd time we've done it as we did it twice last trip but I still love the views! We timed it excellently and had a fountain show go off just as we reached the top.

Back on land we all very sensibly decided we should now go back to the hotel to bed... we didn't want to but we had an obscenely early pick up in the morning and none of us wanted to ruin Grand Canyon day. Tom and I thought it may be nice to have one chilled drink in the room and watch the fountains from our room at night since we'd be back early enough to see them.

We meandered back to the hotel and my feet were again screaming. It was horrible!

Back at Ballys we walked past all the usual stop and play machines and the lure of the big wheel. I bought a champagne (they serve instead of prosecco) and Tom a whisky and we headed to the room and watched the fountains from our window.

I have to admit I ended up leaving most of my drink as tiredness hit but nevermind! Early alarms set and thats another day done folks!

Honestly it isnt scary at all - can hardly feel you are moving. Liv is scared of heights and even she liked it. Grab a cocktail on your way in and definitely do it - such a nice 30 minutes and the pods are huge so you dont feel caged in. Bodies was one of the strangest things I've ever seen and definitely not one to do slightly hungover lol x

Yes might grab a cocktail for some courage. Think you can get a deal with drinks while you are on there cant you? I am so terrified of heights.
As for bodies. Was a bit disappointed if I am honest. I worked in Pathology and saw PM's and body parts daily and didnt think they looked "realistic" Maybe it was just me, but I guess if you haven't seen any it might be weird. Dont think you are meant to back into them though lol

Haha! yes possibly not meant to nearly topple over a whole real body can you imagine if I actually had? I would have been mortified! Wonder if its the preservatives and stuff? I didn't understand how they could be real and found the whole thing quite gross lol!
Honestly it doesn't actually feel that high - I think because everything around you is so high anyway? You can get a drink in the bar before you go on or you can do the unlimited drink package - these pods were always packed and you have to tip per drink etc - we were glad we did the normal pod option as the bar in the bar pods took up a lot of floor room so think it would be tricky to see everything as well and I think the massive cocktail we took on was probably a better deal all in all... some reviews on trip advisor love the open bar pods though but I thought really how much use am I going to get out of it in 30 minutes without feeling ill lol x

Good point. Knowing me I would cram the drinks in to get my moneys worth and be sick. Will take a look in September but it looks so so high! My hubby would like to do it so feel as though I am stopping him. Think I would need maybe a couple of drinks! lol

Think you would have been banned from Ballys if not Vegas if you had knocked the body over! lol Its Formaldehyde they use in hospitals etc which is nasty stuff so you wouldnt smell nice either! lol

Haha! Tom was joking that I'd have been made to donate my body to medical research in return as there was a sign for this at the end.

Go for it - honestly - I know a few people who have said hate heights but don't mind it - Liv was terrified before we got on but was absolutely fine. It goes so slowly you can hardly tell you are moving and before you know it you are back at the bottom. I look forward to feedback on how you get on! I bought on travel zoo I think as this shaved some off and also the huge queue is to buy tickets - if you have them already you just waltz on in the left hand queue and less time to get worked up then x
