Norweigan to HiFly (5X)
I am a bit peeved. Booked our flights via Netflights flying Norweigan. Got the confirmation that we were flying Norweigan Air. Paid the balance today and got confirmation through but however we are now flying with HiFly (5X) which appears to be a Portuguese airline.
I am NOT happy, the flight is an hour later but I've never even heard of these HiFly planes. Not sure how I stand with this though … I am going to be a nervous wreck I will phone Netflights tomorrow but who knows whether they can actually do anything

Now I honestly have no idea, but if they are the same hifly planes that Thomas Cook leased a few years ago to fly from Stansted, then they were up there with the best economy flights we have had.

Norwegian have a shortage of 787 planes at the moment due to the RR engine issue, so they are using some hifly planes on routes, the LGW-MCO route often has an A330 of Hifly flying the route for them.
They still have the Norweigan flight codes. I thought it was still deemed to be Norwegian, just like previously when TC used Hifly planes, they were still deemed TC. Are yours not Norwegian flight codes ? Edited at 12:58 AM. |

Actually it’s a Boeing A340 that Norwegian has wet leased from HiFly on a ACMI contract, ( Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance). This means that it is flying under Norwegians codes using their airport landing slots.
An A330 is an Airbus aircraft, but so easy to confuse them all as both companies run very similar naming options |

Large thread further down, Norwegian were originally offering refunds but seem to have changed stance now.

Norweigan via their web chat have offered a full refund, Netflights are trying to find an alternative carrier for us, I know I sound like a lunatic but the thought of getting on an unknown airline is sending my stress levels through the room

Just remember if you fly direct with VA or BA chances are you will be on a plane as old as the HiFly A 340 .
You should read the reviews of this plane. Some on here have likes it as much as the Norwegian Dreamliner. Hi Fly are a well respected Portuguese Airline who specialise in ACMI Leasing to other airlines. Their aircraft are all certified to the same level as Norwegian in this case. (ACMI... Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance.) |
