Annoyingly at Surfside they have the gate that leads to the pavement locked so it is a bit of a trek to IHOP as you have to go all the way to the driveway entrance, that was last summer anyway, it might have been sorted by now, its almost like they want to make access onto idrive difficult?
The QS at Surfside is reasonable, they have a policy of no meal costing more than $12 and theres a reasonable choice.

Sorry to hear about your redundancy, hope you are ok. Good that you can still do your trip though as it’s good to have something to look forward to.
Inside Universal Bumblebee Tacos are good value -around $11 for two tacos and chips and they’re really filling! That was our best value meal! Also, for a treat, a large lard lad donut is massive and can be shared for around $8.
Breakfast at RPR we were grabbing cereal in the Tuk Tuk market - $4 for a plastic pot of cereal and milk. Meant we could eat in room and get out quicker in the morning.
For drinks, we took refillable water bottles and filled up wherever we got food. They were all happy to do so and it saves on the soda refill cost.

Edited at 07:55 PM.

I’m led to believe that the gate is now open from 7am to 7pm, using your room key to access it, then once it’s locked it’s via the parking garage onto idrive, right near the itrolley stop.

Thank you; it was a massive shock, but I’m ok now.

Great thinking on the tacos! And donuts, too, thanks!

This is the link to the pool bar menu at RPR. The food is good and portions are generous.

Bubba Gump was excellent and big portions, we shared a few appetisers for lunch and it was too much. I thought Panda Express was appalling, but it is cheap and some like it. I would definitely add Hotdog Hall of Fame to your list, that was really good.

Don’t rule out some of the table service places in the park.
Mythos, confisco and Lombard’s can all be as reasonable as quick service depending on what you order.

Breadbox and Panda Express are great value options.

NBC can be good if sharing appetisers. Cow fish is great and the kids bento boxes can be a good option.

I’ve done a couple of universal food reports one from last month and one from Easter, they might be useful.
