Rump steak in a red wine and mushroom Marsala sauce, parmentier potatoes, tempura battered courgettes, carrot batons and broccoli spears. Followed by vanilla cheesecake. All done at home. Just the two of us! But will still do a lovely meal indoors. Had a takeaway on Xmas Eve so dont fancy one for New Years.

Doubt well be up at midnight though! Be glad to see the back of this year!

They are quite traditional in Scotland. They might sound basic but are absolutely delicious.
We used to have this when I was at home in Wales , mum always used cornbeef and she called it cornbeff stew😀

It all depends on what comes from the online shop.

It will either be;

Nice nibbles and some party food
Or
Fajitas
Or
Fake Nandos

All super easy and not much of a faff.

NYE we are having savoury and sweet platters. We have things like pizza, garlic bread, Parma ham, olives, cheeses etc for the savoury one and my daughter is in charge of the sweet one, so no idea.

NYD we are having a fry up and probably leftovers from the night before later in the day.

Not sure what well have on Hogmanay but itll be steak pie on New Years Day. Ive never really given it any thought before but from reading this thread it seems like its a popular Scottish New Years meal. What do other parts of the UK have as a traditional New Years meal?

DH gets a pot of stock/fat from butcher. It's like a pot of stock on the bottom with hard fat on the top. Melts the fat in the pot, adds sliced onion, soften a bit then add really thin slices of potato and the stock from the pot (you need several pots but don't need all the fat) and stir on a low heat until potato cooked. Very fattening but soooo tasty

Hogmanay crisps, dips, hubby and son a malt whiskey or 2, me and dd a glass of wine at the bell, different from our usual grand Hogmanay dinner dance ball with friends and family.

New Years Day Traditional steak pie, mash potatoes ( lots of butter) mushy pies in vinegar. Home made apple pie and cream. Usually the whole family but only 4 this year.
