Flights showing “9 left”

I’ve been looking at TC flights and so far every one I’ve looked at shows “9 left” alongside the price. Is this just a ruse? A coincidence? Do they only sell 9 at this price? Why 9?

9 means at least 9 in my opinion. I think 9 is the highest it ever says.

No experience with TC but I fly with FlyBe a lot and when they say '5 left' it usually means '5 left at this exact price'. The price can just as easily go down after as well as up so it's a gamble, but such is the way when buying plane tickets these days.

When I went into TC yesterday she told me that there was no discount on the price of the flights that I was looking at so I didn’t need to worry about losing any discount on them, she made it sound like they were therefore unlikely to go up but I’m not sure...

I have looked at TC twice this week once for 3 adults £1259 then two days later £2079 for the same flights. so if the price is good book and don't look back.

When I booked last week (for 2020) it said 4 seats left - so I booked as I needed to be going on that specific date. Then I made the fatal mistake of looking the next day and saw it saying '9 seats' at £40pp cheaper. I actually complained to TC that they were misleading people by saying 4 seats left, and that they should be specifying 'at this price'. They've given us the Priority Package complimentary after my complaint.

Yes, 9 means good availability, anything under that us normally x seats at the price band, or only x seats left in cabin class
