BA strike action

I know there is going to be ballot action for strikes and they are planned to start the 5th August if decided to go ahead. I have tried to speak to BA about this but they're not very helpful as I suppose they just don't know until the ballot. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of the strikes from previous years and what BA did. I feel like this has completely taken the edge off our excitement for the holiday.

Most long-hauls will go ahead, even if there is a strike.

They'll probably stagger the strikes meaning (as above) most long-hauls will go ahead.

We are due to fly 16th.

My logic is strikes may not happen. If they do they might not be when we fly. If they are they will cancel all the short haul first. Long haul will likely still go ahead. If it doesn't we are covered on insurance and will get out there somehow.

Not if the pilots strike.

9 out of 10 BA pilots are in BALPA. They won't be able to rent enough planes and crews to cover that.

People will be offered the choice of either cancelling and getting a refund, changing the date of travel free of charge or being put on another carrier if possible. This what BA have done in the past.

I have nothing particular to add, but as someone who was caught up in the BA cabin crew dispute a few years back, my advice to anyone who is stressed, is this...

When you get to Orlando, as I am sure you all will, you need to enjoy your holiday by a further 50% to release all of that tension that you have built up. In other words...go for it BIG time

Everything crossed for you all

Keep us posted
