The Encore is too far north in my opinion but would have been a great part of the regenerated North Strip if Echelon and Fontainebleu had been realised. That area is generally now quite hideously ugly but it's not far to the Peppermill at least
Aria seemed too clinical and the public areas souless to us when we visited in 2012 and our friends actually stayed there and didn't rate it as much as other Strip hotels. Beautiful building from the outside. So it's the MGM then |

The Tropicana benefits from a recent makeover and it seemed ultra clean when we visited last year. DaytonaBabe has great things to say about it also so much so she has cancelled her NYNY stay to stay there again this year so clearly it ticks all the boxes. You wouldn't have said that 5 years ago and I'm guessing it still has a long way to go to try and rid itself of that reputation. We very nearly booked on a 50% off deal that was offered on eBookers last year but it was still cheaper to stay at Planet Hollywood overall.

I do really like it but one of the reasons i'm stopping there is because its saving me £400 compared to stopping at New York and well any money saved is more to spend when i'm there lol.
I'm not sure if i found a glitch but Lowcost Holidays had the Tropicana inc resort fee's for just over £500 for the 4 of us where as everyone else wanted £900.. so i cancelled my booking with Funway, booked some flights in the sale with VA and booked the Tropicana . I had never set foot in it until last March..driven past many times but it wasn't somewhere that held my interest.. but yes it is very clean (and i'm fussy). |

I think it depends on what type of room you get at Circus Circus there are some in the main tower that's supposed to be quite nice.. but the Manor rooms at the back look like rundown disused Travelodges.
Its a strange hotel.. the Steakhouse gets excellent reviews and i might try Rock & Rita's this year ,but its full of those horrible tacky shops selling tat.. And as for the Adventuredrome well there was more closed than open last March. And the "Circus" show was the most bizarre thing we've ever seen. People say its aimed at families , well hell would freeze over before i stopped there with my children. |

Lol. A lot can change in 8 years. To be honest we used it as a base to shower and lay our head and nothing much else. We didn't really use the facilities in the hotel which is why I commented only on my room. We slept, showered and left to go the main strip daily. I think we may have spoilt ourselves now anyway with staying at the Signature. It was lovely. I would like to try other hotels but I think he may just rebook the Signature as he enjoyed it so much.

Interestingly and I think I mentioned it above or on another thread that there was a 50% off deal available but only on eBookers last year for the Tropicana (I think I remember contacting you by PM at the time). Nobody else had it anywhere near that price, I wonder if it is something similar for you this year with Lowcost? In saying that I remember booking the Westin Seattle through Travel Republic for far less than the other hotel booking agents had in 2011, so it must just be down to timing. NYNY is a nice hotel although the rooms are so so and location isn't any different to the Tropicana so the savings make it a total no brainer.

I always try and move around as much as possible to keep things fresh in Vegas. Although I love the MGM Grand and will always recommend it on here we stayed there 3 times on the trot and it became over familiar on the third stay.
I've still got a long way to go but I have now stayed in the MGM, Luxor, Excalibur, NYNY, PH (not forgetting the good old Motel 6 on Tropicana) and spent a lot of time in the rooms in TI, the Mirage and the Venetian. Next time it will be somewhere different, for value it seems hard to beat the Monte Carlo based on the rates I have been seeing and the monorail to CityCenter makes it a great base. |

Having stayed in most if the hotels on the strip. I would say the best pool is Mandalay Bay with MGM Grand as a close second. Bellagio is overrated. If you want a fountain view I would suggest Planet Hollywood.
Make sure you register with the MGM players club to build points from the machines. You can earn free meals and tickets for shows. They also give you good deals on rooms in the group too! We go back in May and are staying at the VDara, Luxor, Rio and Tahiti Village! Can't wait!

I love the look of the Tahiti Village.. we've had a walk around a few times.. but i just know for us we would hate not being able to walk out onto the strip..I know we have a car but we rarely use it in the evenings.
