CBR - refurbishment/building work

**Plans have been submitted to demolish multiple buildings and build a multi storey building on land where Barbados and part of Martinique villages currently sit, and to work on roads and waterways **

Here's what we know about it so far:

Old port Royal to close for a total refurb from 1st May 2017.

Facilities that will be shut:

•Food court
•Shutters table service restaurant,
•Calypso trading shop
•Concierge and recreation areas of Old Port Royale
•Banana Cabana bar(situated just outside of OPR)
•Barbados and Martinique villages to be 'unavailable' from May 2017

Building work noise may be heard between either 9am until dusk(from recent e-mail) or 9am until 4pm(from original e-mail)

And while they work their 'magic' over the coming months:

•Centertown(a large marquee style tent) will serve a Caribbean\American buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner

•a selection of grab-and-go meals will be available in the island markets of Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique.

•Guests can refill their resort mugs with beverages from Coca-Cola freestyle machines which will be available throughout the resort.

Room pizza delivery will still be available

•Guests will receive $75 per room per night gift card on checking in at hotel

•At the moment guests are able to transfer to POR without charge while keeping their existing offers that they received at time of booking(dining plans, gifts cards)

No opening/closing times of food facilities or menus available, it's also not known what times drinks will be able to refilled using freestyle mugs or whether tea, coffee, tea, hot chocolate will be available and where refill locations might be.

Hi All

After reading through this thread for the past 3 hours, Im a little concerned at the number of people commenting on the fact that there have not received the $75 a night GC.

We accepted the GC instead of moving resorts. Now I'm Concerned that we will be refused the GC on check-in. I have nothing in writing regarding the GC just our TA advising Us that Disney were offering guests a $75pn GC for those choosing to stay at the CBR.

Can anyone put our mind at ease... think the fact its 2.35am is messing with my brain lol...

The people not getting it have already taken a discount so they are being told they aren't entitled to both, if all you have been offered is the cars, you will have no problem

Okay what a day, just settling down in bed now. Couple of points from today

We flew dreamliner with Thompson. We booked row 18. Definitely book around here as you get off so much quicker. 57 mins and we were walking to get the car. When i looked back there was still a massive queue for the first check, never mind getting bags orc anything.

About twenty mins after leaving airport our hire car had a flat tyre, so there was us at the side of the road, bags and all everyone out while I changed it. phoned alamo and we were told to go get tyre fixed and they would probably reimburse us. Probably!
Not having that so we are leaving our back to a different place tomorrow and getting a new car.

Literally dropped bags at cabin. (we requested 2106 and got 2104 so looks really close to small pool) then headed to HS. Glad to get to bed tonight.

Hope you get sorted with a new car. You were lucky it wasn't raining. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

So glad you had a good flight but sorry to hear about the hire car. A flat tyre after a 9 +hr flight must have been killer! Hope you have a lovely holiday and get hire car sorted.

if your ta has told you you are getting a GC, they have told you you are getting a GC - do you have it in writing?

if Disney don't honour it, you have to complain whilst onsite with Disney and your TA, then claim your TA when you get back...

Benefit of booking thru an agent, is that its their problem, not yours, you enjoy your hol and they go and sort it. That's the theory anyway...
