Virgin Car Hire Insurance

Looking for some advice. Booked fully inclusive insurance with Virgin. Received email from Virgin today recommending we upgrade insurance to fully inclusive package as we only have basic car package. All paperwork says fully inclusive insurance. Anyone experienced anything like this before? Thank you in advance.

Never heard of this before. Have you booked a 'holiday' or a 'flydrive' or just straight car hire?
The first two dont come with fully inclusive insurance unless you have upgraded it.
Does your invoice detail the finer points?

Basic car only comes with car rental is is included in a package or flydrive

I to have never seen what you are saying last time I used them for car only it was straight forward and just shown I had the Fully Inclusive package

If you are talking about
virginholidays/same at virgin atlantic
they only do 2 levels of insurance
Fully Inclusive
Third Party Extended Protection (EP) up to $1million
Uninsured Motorist Protection (UMP)
Airport User Fee
Unlimited Mileage
24/7 Roadside Assistance
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) - zero excess in event of damage/accident
One Additional Driver
Pre payable State/Local Taxes and Surcharges

then there upgrad is called gold includes all above plus
One Tank of fuel
Up to 3 Additional Drivers

Can I also point out there prices are around £120 more for the same car from alamo/brits

Exactly right. However although VA car hire only is silly prices for part of this year I have consistently found them cheaper than Brits for the last 8 years at least, so maybe 24 rentals?
April 17 VA by a long way
Aug 17 and Oct 17 Brits by a long way
Seems VA hire is off the boil, sad.

My brother has also received an email from Virgin Holidays asking him to upgrade his insurance as he only has 3rd party. Have used Virgin loads of times before and never had this, always fully inclusive insurance included. I have done a dummy booking for the same dates and the price is exactly the same showing fully inclusive insurance included. I have not checked his paperwork, will do that tomorrow but it must be an error. The car hire was booked completely separate from his flights so not part of a package.

My car hire the last 2 years has been FAR cheaper with Virgin than anyone else including Alamo/Brits. Generally go for an SUV and it looks like I'll be using them again next year for the 17 nights we're away, cheapest I've seen so far.

Thank you for all your help and information. I phoned Virgin to clarify the situation and it appears to be an automatically generated email. They confirmed that we have fully inclusive insurance. Phew! One thing less to worry about.
