Night Out - Uber
Hi,
We are going to Orlando in April and whilst we are there, my wife and I will be celebrating our anniversary (6th April). I was looking at something we can do to celebrate and I quite like the idea of going to the blue man group and then spending the night on citywalk, golf, drinks etc. However, we are based in a villa in orange tree community, which from google maps looks to be about a 30 minute drive. Could anyone advise what it would be like getting an Uber at night time and roughly how much it would be? I dont mind paying a bit, but wouldn't want to pay an extortionate amount! My only experience in the UK of using Uber was with an introductory offer and as there was none in my area for over half an hour, there was a surge and what would normally be a £5 taxi cost all of my introductory offer (£15?!) Thanks |

I might be wrong as I'm no expert on uber so others may want to correct me. But I think uber over here is similarly priced to a regular mini cab as they are governed by all the same licensing, but in America they aren't so are much cheaper. I think they also have more cars on the road than in the UK. If you google uber estimate you can put your addresses in to get a guide on the price.
Hope this helps. Andy |

We used Uber for the first time in November and it is a lot cheaper than a taxi. For example we got an Uber from RPR to the outlets at Vineland and it cost $10.72, we got a cab from the outlets to Millers Ale House on Idrive and it was $27 plus tip and this was a shorter journey! This was the first and last taxi I will ever get in Orlando.
I would recommend Uber to anybody over a cab service. If you already have an Uber account you could signup your other half and then take advantage of one of the signup codes, I got $22 off my first ride. |

Thanks guys.
I have used the fare estimate website and it is showing as $19-26 but I imagine this may go up at night and was more concerned about a price surge if everyone is leaving around the same time. I will get my wife to sign up for a discount code. Do you download the app and sign up once in the USA to get the applicable discount code? |
