Usually checked through but just ask when you check in/bag drop.

Once you check in in Dublin, you won't see your bags again until Orlando, you should also get your boarding cards for the second flight at Dublin check in

I assume this will be same for us? We are going from Manchester to Newark and then onto Orlando. FIL says we will have to collect baggage from one conveyor and transfer to another.
Also do we do immigration in Newark and then don't have to in Orlando?

You (flying from Manchester) will have to collect bags and do immigration and Customs in Newark.

They (Flying from Dublin) will do Immigration and Customs in Dublin, so no need to collect bags.

Departing Dublin you pre-clear immigration at Dublin airport so immigration at all.

I hope someone else will confirm, but I think you have to collect your luggage at Newark as you are departing from the UK and entering USA at this point.

From this point on you are treated as a domestic traveler so no more immigration.

Yes, as you go through US Customs at Dublin airport, you won't see your bags until Orlando (at Dublin, they show you photographs of your cases to identify them)

Going from Manchester, your first entry into the USA is on US mainland, so, yes you collect your cases, go through customs then Gand your bags in again.

Another reason why Dublin (orShannon) are great jump off points
