We always said we would never go in August but last year we had no choice so got the n the plane on 16th August and prepared ourselves for hell at the other end! In reality it was fine, we coped with the heat and wet. Struggled more with the humidity but did acclimatise. Going back at the same time this year as we found it manageable and not horrendously busy.

I'm going at the end of August as well. Gonna pack plenty of factor 50 and drink plenty of water and hopefully we should be ok.
As a side note, has time stood still for anybody else? I booked about 600 days out and it's flown by, but since I got 60 days it's been dragggggging! Still another 44 days to go! |

We've been Easter and end of August before ... Yes it's hot in August but so was March ,no more rain fall in August than March ( we found) and crowds much better in August ... We used the "magic towels" ( can get them on Amazon etc) , really recommend them , you soak them in water when you get to park and they stay cool for ages ...lovely to have round your neck cooling you down

We went the last 2 weeks of August last year. Weather was hot and humid the first week but actually didn't really bother me - I quite like the heat! Second week was very stormy and we got rained out of Universal one day but it wasn't continuous every day. Personally I would take the weather of the first week over the second but on the plus side crowds were much more quiet during week 2.
We are going in October this year which should be better weather wise but means taking the kids out of school for a week which won't go down well. |

I have never been in August before so hoping we manage it ok as we have already booked a villa for next August as well. Plan to wear light clothing and have plenty of breaks.
I am more worried about my DD, she needs to have inner soles in her shoes (specially made ones for her) and they are so thick the only shoes they currently fit in where you can only see a little bit off them is Nike Air Max's. I plan to get her a white pair for holiday and hoping her feet don't swell up too much in the heat. Time is flying by for me! Lots of birthdays coming up (including my DD 10th) so its making the time go quicker.

We are now down to 36 days
like most its been such a long time coming, and now its zooming along to travel day, all the planning, searching for the cheapie flights and everything else. Only ever been in August - has to be school holidays for us, but we know what to expect weather wise, very hot, humid and rain, but with the added luxury of our own very private pool, fun in parks this is bliss. |
