Florida Cup Football Tournament 2018
This is definitely one for anyone who is in town Jan 10-15, but the 2018 Florida Cup soccer tournament is definitely going to be worth catching as it features six games in Orlando for the first time (plus one each in Fort Lauderdale and St Petersburg), as well as the first British club - Scotland's Rangers FC - in the 4-year history of the event. The format is a loose round-robin event, but the main feature is that it showcases top footy talent from South America and Europe in a pre-season style event, which is usually great for seeing the players perform without the usual must-win pressure. Next year's event will feature 30-plus players who will all be on the World Cup stage next summer, including from top Brazilian club Corinthians, PSV Eindhoven from Holland and Legia Warsaw, as well as Rangers and teams from Ecuador and Colombia.

I'm gutted we fly home on the 11th of January..my Grandson would have loved to go and watch Rangers..I've been trying to find out if they'll be doing an open training session that we could go and watch but nobody seems to know yet.

Good question. It may just be a bit too early to say as those kind of logistics may still be being worked out at the moment. Logically, the team will be training nearby, possibly even at the stadium, but more likely up in Sylvan Lake Park in Seminole County, where Orlando City's training HQ is. I will try to check and let you know

OK, from what I can tell, Rangers will actually be based down at the IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, and doing nearly all of their training there, which is not terribly helpful for anyone looking to see them in Orlando. Bradenton is a 2-hour drive from Orlando, so that's not hugely convenient. From what I understand, the team will be doing a few personal appearances ahead of their games, but at things like an Orlando Magic game and at Universal Orlando. There will also be a youth game at Montverde Academy (in Apopka) that will feature some of the players from several teams. Hopefully I will hear a bit more nearer the time and can let you know of any realistic opportunities to see the team.

My wife says to try contact Greg Marshall, supporter liaison officer at slo@rangers.co.uk or you can find him on twitter. Seems a pleasant enough chap. My little diddy team don’t get invited to things like this but hope this helps.
