Magic bands and tickets question

Hi all.

I've just been putting our Disney cards (which we got from Orlando Attraction) onto our MDE app.

After quite a bit of messing around, I managed to deactivate our last 2 tickets, and add our ones for this year. I had to go on to my account on Disneyworld to do it.

My question is, we have magic bands from 2016 still showing as activated on both mine and DW MDE apps. Do the tickets I have just added automatically work with these bands, or have I done something wrong?

Yes, the bands you have can still be used to access the information on My Disney Experience, so for entry to the park and for Fast Passes.

You don't actually need to deactivate any tickets, by the way

Thanks for your help. I wasn't sure if I needed to link the tickets to the magic bands.

Nothing gets linked to the bands, they are like a 'key' to unlock the information on MDE

As people have said - your MDE account is the central key to everything. Your tickets link to it, your Magic Bands link to it, your Fast Passes are linked to it and your photos are linked to it.
You tap your Magic Band at the gate, the system will check its number and find your MDE account which has a ticket linked to it. You tap your Magic Band at a Fast Pass post, the system will check its number and find your MDE account and check if you have a Fast Pass.
People think Magic Bands hold your personal data, photos, Fast Passes etc. All they hold is a number, which is linked to and MDE account.
