With pay on arrival with Alamo, is there a cancellation charge for a "no show"

It's a great backup plan in case Hertz don't honour the booking but if they do, I don't want to pay Alamo a cancelation charge

There wasn't last year because when you made a booking for pay on arrival they didn't ask for payment details so they couldn't. First time they had payment details was upon collection of car. Try a dummy booking and see if it's changed.

Used pay on arrival last year and paid price that was quoted when I booked in January
That's what I've done.

I used Hertz back in 2010 and there was no hard sell. OH forgot his credit card so we had to use mine, even though he was the driver, and there was no issue with that. We even got a free upgrade.

I saw a programme on the telly a couple of weeks ago about booking your car hire online and using another country's site. There was no issue with doing this as we can use any EU site due to the European free trade. I would just join the Gold Club and book through the French site.

Another one who has book an Escalade for the tidy sum of $471 for 2 weeks in October this year - works out around £314.

I hadn't really thought about a back up plan to be honest - I'm fairly confident everything will be fine...

If they give you the hard sell, just say 'We've got an Escalade, why wouljd we want anything else?' Theres only DH & I going (theres 11 of in total but all going off doing odifferent things so will need our own car) so only need a small car otherwise I would have booked this without a doubt!

Can people please post when they get back how it went?

I think I may be the first- Nov 28 this year- if so I will post back. I think I will book an alamo back up just in case though.

Have to wonder just how many of these cars they stock, cant be that many!

I have the escalade deal too.

My concern for the pay on arrival deal is that they reservation charge comes off when you return the car.

I like the idea of the back up alamo hire just in case.
