I've just had the call back from Disney Customer Services in the US.

They've spoken with the UK team (the team who won't speak to customers, something the lady I spoke to thought was as barking mad as I did) and they've confirmed this doesn't and will not apply to the 21 day tickets.

I pointed out the unfairness of this to customers and how I wanted to spend 21 days there, spending money for an additional week on site etc. etc. To be fair the person I spoke to had a lot of empathy but was powerless to do anything.

I asked who I can escalate this to and she said the UK team. The team you can't speak to!

So I am now being emailed an email address of the US team where I can detail my complaint. This will then be passed to the UK team who will respond back to the US team and then I will receive some feedback. Yes, really.

I've never been to Disney before. This is my first experience of their service and whilst the people I've spoken to in the US have been perfectly helpful they are completely undermined by a outrageously ignorant and uncommunicative UK team who have come up with a poorly thought through initiative.

I'll let the forum know how my email complaint goes!

Perhaps if we all complained hard enough Disney will decide it's not worth doing the 25% discount if all people do is complain about it and instead reset all tickets back to the higher price.

The cost of the extra days from the 14 day ticket to a 21 day ticket is still half the price of a 7 day ticket. So, in effect, you are getting those extra 7 days for half price.

And you can get the 21 day ticket (£393 from OrlandoAttractions and FloridaEscapes) for the same price as a 10 day MYW ticket with the same Waterpark and Hopper options (£390 from OrlandoAttractions). So that's 21 days for the price of 10.

Hi Nimbus

Can you explain your logic on the delta between 14 and 21 days? I don't get that figure at all!

re-worked out plans and just gone for 14 day tickets with Orlando Attractions for £295 - works out fine and we will have at least 1 day off and try for a 15th day access.

With the Universal Black Friday savings and this saving compared to what we had planned on spending works out I've saved £600 on tickets so am well chuffed with that and means that 1 of us is getting free park access (and more!).

Using the 'official' Disney ticket prices:

A 2017 7 day Ultimate ticket = £299
A 2017 14 day Ultimate ticket = £299
A 2017 21 day ultimate ticket = £439

The price difference between the 21 and 14 day ticket = 439 - 299 = £140.

And £140 is less than half the price of the 7 day Ultimate ticket.

Therefore, if getting a 21 day ticket instead of a 14 day ticket, you are getting the extra 7 days for £140 which is less than half the price of the 7 day ticket. Seven days for less than half price!

(My logic is no worse than when Disney says you are getting "14 days for the price of 7").

Coupled with the fact that it's the same price as the 10 day MYW ticket, the price of the 21 day Ultimate ticket is a bargain. At least, that's what Disney's marketing should say.

HTH.

It's also worth remembering that, as well as the 21 day ticket, the 25% discount does not apply to the 2016 Ultimate ticket prices either. Those who travelled this year had to pay more than those going next year. Also those that only want 7 day tickets next year (they only want to visit on 7 days) have to pay the same price as those who buy a 14 day ticket, not less. And the 25% discount does not apply to Annual Passes nor the Magic Your Way tickets either, which is unfair.

There's a lot of unfairness around.

Ah right I see what you mean. Thanks Nimbus.

I see your logic but my displeasure still stands; that is, apply the 25% across the board.

I've still not had the email or follow up call back from 'customer services'.

I'd heard Disney's customer service was legendary; I thought that meant it was good!

Here's hoping I'm not the only one crying into my cornflakes about this.

I can understand you being disappointed. And I agree that it seems strange that Disney have a limited time offer on two of the tickets but not the third. But it's not the first time - every year they do a "14 days for the price of 7" offer and never a "21 days for the price of 14" deal.

The price of the 21 day ticket can still be considered a good price. In terms of the price-per-day it's about the same as the 14 day ticket (actually, it's a tiny bit cheaper):

14 days @ £299 = £21.36 per day
21 days @ £439 = £20.90 per day

It's just that people have become accustomed to the 21 day ticket only being about £30 more than the 14 day ticket. So the current £140 difference seems weird (and disappointing).

Can I ask, if Disney hadn't had this offer and the tickets were all at the prices they were a week ago (i.e. £419 for 14 days and £439 for 21 days) and continued to be at that price for the foreseeable future, would you complain to Disney? Or would you accept to pay that price?

I had already put a deposit down with ATD for £579 pp for Disney/universal combo. Phoned yesterday and they've changed it to the new price of £539pp plus the tickets for cirque du soleil. Still pricey! But a little saving.

If the 25% off 21 Day Ultimate isn't applied by the time the offer ends (March I think?) we're just booking a 14 Day Ultimate, and doing Sea World or Universal instead out of principle. Very poorly thought-out not to apply 25% off all the Ultimate tickets, but that's their (Disney) loss.
