Florida 2019 - Tell Me This Isn't The Last Time - Day 10 - Forever Floria & Outlets

The index is here.

Monday 5th August 2019

We had looked for different things to do this trip; with DDs being 16 and 14, we try and broaden the search to find new things and stumbled upon Forever Florida which is a zip wire park; so today, we were going there. First off breakfast at an old favourite and then maybe visit an Outlet before having dinner at Olive Garden.

We had to be at Forever Florida by 1130 and it was about a 75 mins drive from the villa; so we got up and had a relaxing start to the morning before heading out for breakfast at Ponderosa. I was wearing my essential purchase

Ponderosa has always been a tradition for us and normally we head there on the first morning; however, since the last trip and reading some of the stories, we were unsure what we would find. I know more people prefer Golden Corral but we went there before and thought it was ok. As usual there is a lot of food on the buffet but the restaurant was quite empty and the omelet chef evening came from behind and was promoting his cooking (which was good); there was something missing from before but I can’t put my finger on it. It cost $51.11 (£42.23) and was worth it especially with the drinks; despite us loving Ponderosa I’m unsure if it will still be there on our next visit, or whether we would go back

Now for some tat (sorry I mean wonderful gifts) in the shop next door.

Despite it being tat, we love these stores; where else can you find Pluto next to Alligator teeth, next to a rude t-shirt, next to luggage we always end up buying pens and a magnet.

We headed off to Forever Florida which is in St Cloud, so you head east on the 192. The closer you get to it, the more rural the roads and the further you are away from Disney; houses are off the beaten track and there are little old-style convenience stores by Petrol Stations.

The place itself is really nice and well kept; we went into the reception area and checked in; you can buy food and drink and they had some merchandise too.

There are three type of zip-wire activities and you can pick and choose which ones you want to do; we decided to buy the all-in-one ticket and the girls went on Peregrine’s Plummet, Zip Coaster and Zip Line which is the longest in Florida.

We got on the bus and headed out to the first activity, Peregrine’s Plummet. There was about 30 people on the bus and about 20 of them were doing the activities; there were parents and grandparents from all over the states, I think we were the only ones outside of America.

We made our way to the hub where everyone was put in their safety harness.

We walked to the first activity; only then did you realise how high it was

DDs a lot braver than myself or DW

Next up was a short walk to the Zip Coaster

DDs were having a lot of fun, but it was so hot waiting for them; there was a good amount of shade but it was a dead heat. From there, we got in the truck and headed to the zip line; DDs were dropped off at the start of the zip line and we were taken to the viewing platform at the other end.

We got on the bus and headed back to the hub; however, the driver reversed and got stuck in the mud. You can see from the photos it’s a bit of a quagmire and the truck is very heavy; in the end everyone got off and the adults had to rock the truck so it could gain some purchase and free itself. My white trainers were no longer white

We got back to the hub where they were selling photos and videos of the trip on a memory stick and then headed back to the reception area. We bought some drinks and then decided to head back.

The cost was $125 (£103) and DDs absolutely loved it; it was something out of the norm and couldn’t be further away from the buzz of Disney if it tried. They had so much fun and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. After note – I’m writing this in May whilst we’re in the middle of COVID lockdown; I checked the Forever Florida website and it seems they are going back to being a nature reserve; unsure how long the zip line activities will be unavailable for or whether it will be closed permanently. But if you’re going to Florida and fancy something different, keep an eye on their website.

We headed back to Vineland premium outlet for something to eat and see if there were any bargains.

I had a Subway, DW had Sesame Chicken, DD1 had Quesadillas and DD2 had Chicken Tenders; all from different shops in the food court and the total was $32.87 (£27.18). Full of food, we headed off for some shopping.
Disney character warehouse was first; DD2 bought some note pads and I bought a Galaxy’s Edge shirt for the bargain price of $9.99 (£8.26)

I was in the queue to pay and DW/DDs went across to the shop on the opposite side; then the heavens opened; there was thunder and lightning and it started to flood……so I sat in Disney just watching it. There were people darting in between shops and running from one to another who getting soaked; they were holding bags over their heads…..it was funny watching people getting soaked by trying not to

Lots of shopping was done; DD1 bought tops in Lucky Brand Jeans and DKNY and gifts in Ralph Lauren; DD2 bought shorts in Under Armour and trainers in Reebok; DW bought trainers in Journeys and I bought trainers in Reebok, jeans in Levis and Polo shirts in Tommy Bahamas.

Just when I thought it was safe to go back into the water, DW saw Kate Spade. So, we went from this

to this

We shopped enough and we were getting tired, so we headed back home.

It was another fab day; Ponderosa was good but fading slightly; DDs loved Forever Florida and a good bit of shopping done.

Tomorrow is AK, maybe Posner Park in the afternoon and then dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. Day 11 can be found here
