DFCH - booking amendments

Hello
We are looking at car hire options for two weeks in August and considering via discount Florida car hire. I have read a lot on the forum about booking and then checking the price weekly and re-booking when cheaper. How does this work- would I get an online login and simply cancel and rebook through that? Or would I have to request a cancel and rebook every time via email? Never hired a car in the US before so would like to understand the process a bit more!
Thanks

Hi there,
Firstly I highly recommend DFCH - great service!
When we booked for October last year I just periodically checked my dates by doing a dummy booking... if it was cheaper (which it was several times) I just sent Andy a message and he amended the booking and refunded the amount immediately.

I have just done this myself 5mins ago you go to there
Site and go on to manage my booking and then click on your book and it’s asks if you want to cancel it or amend. I’ve just done this and saved £27.

It is mostly done online now. Once you have made your first booking you will recieve a reference no. When you go back into the web site just do a dummy run as per 'Jools' and if the hire cost is cheaper you just go to your booking via manage my booking and change it to the new price. This will cancel the old one and put the new one in the personal folder . You can do this as often as you like . If the dummy booking is more expensive then just come out of the web site and try again every few days or whenever you like.

Great- thanks for that I’ll get a booking in the system.

Can you also swap between classes of car if a better offer became available?

Yes and if you have paid any money off it will be transferred across to your new booking.

Thanks. Do you know if the only way of adding an additional driver is to pick the gold package? This also includes full to empty fuel - is this better than full to full?
Cheers

Ask Andy on his website, and get the answer directly, although he posts on here regularly .

You no longer have to hassle Andy to amend your booking since he updated his website.

These are the instructions I got from Andy when I asked:

Head to DiscountFloridaCarHire and click on ‘Manage My Booking’ in the top left corner.

As this is the first time you’ll have accessed the customers area, you’ll need to click on the link to ‘Reset your password’. You’ll receive an email within a few seconds with a confirmation link on which you’ll need to click and this will bring you back to the website where you can enter a password. (The email might go in to your spam folder)

You should now be able to view your booking(s) and amend it to the new price.

if you find that, when trying to amend in manage my booking, the search returns no result, but a "contact us for a quote" form, then try to retype the pickup location (or 3 airport code letter) it will then work
it seems that some people have this glitch on some system, but not on all.
retyping the pick up location solves the issue

as for fuel, it depends on how many miles you expect driving
if you will only use half a tank of petrol, then it's a bit of a waste, BUT it will still save you the hassle of refueling before dropping the car of

Believe this here DIBBer who refueled once (many many years ago, in a galaxy far, far away) and who inadvertently stepped in a puddle of petrol spilled by a previous driver at a station ... that was right before taking the plane back to europe ... not a nice smell on the soles and quite an ordeal trying to clean them shoes before security ...

well, I know many got away with refueling, but, long story short, it's much nicer not having to refuel
