Sell me on hertz

Hi all,

So we go 16 nights 30th jan. 7 of us so got a minivan booked with Alamo brits cheapest at the time don’t really need the extra driver as be me driving all the time I guess.

Been checking and got it down to £607. (Although not quite by £525 deal for 3 weeks I got last trip with AE)

Checking AE today signed in got hertz promo for £570, so seen another post her to book and the can try to get the price match and -10% so would get to £513 if approved.

So selling point for Alamo is can go straight to the garage and can pick from a lane although a minivan sure I’ve only ever seen caravan or a town and country (never seen a Pacifica which upon reading a lot of people prefer)

So with hertz I can see as I’ve signed up to gold I will be able to go straight to garage as well if book with them?

But it is a specific car in a bay waiting for you, again I know its a small choice anyway but do they have any chance to swap, I only ask as prefer the town and country over a caravan and would look at a Pacifica to see if they look any better? Quick google mentions a swap line or something called PC?

Thank you

Putting a extra question in, sixt coming up at £400. I know there off site but not sure if that would put me off to save another £100.

Hertz Gold only works if you book Direct with Hertz and not for the first rental (though you can get around that bit)

If you have Hertz Gold you will either have a car reserved for you or you can choose if you have status, otherwise, I think the desk in the airport allocates the car.

Thanks for the reply, so doing the above would be direct with hertz and using there price promise, signed up for gold read car would be in a bay, but did read something about a swap lane? Not sure if that’s something else I’m reading about and getting confused though lol

I have rented from Hertz twice, first time was great, second time was the worst experience collecting a hire car.

I booked direct with hertz for a 2 door coupe class, which should have been a mustang or similar at that time. Arrived at the airport and was told I had been given a brand new Dodge Charger. Great I thought, I was then given the paperwork to sign and I noticed it was asking me to agree to a payment of $400 dollars. I explained i have prepaid and have all insurance and was told she was charging me for the upgrade, which I guess she forgot to mention. I told her I am not paying anything extra as i prepaid. I was then told all I could have is a Chrysler 200. I raised objection as this is not what I had ordered and i really dont like the 200. I asked if I can have anything else and was told not unless I paid extra. I asked to speak to a manager and was refused. By this point I was tired and just wanted to get to the villa, so i said to just give me the car.

She then went on to tell me i didnt have insurance and i needed to pay extra, i pointed out on the paperwork I had full cover prepaid, which she dismissed and told me i would stupid if i didnt pay extra and I was risking my family's lifes. I told her just to give me the keys as I had enough. The 200 had about 30K on the clock and the suspension was knocking. I called Hertz the next day to complain and was told i do have full insurance and that i can take it to a hertz garage to swap it, they offered me a mere £20 hertz voucher to say sorry. I have never used Hertz again.

Sadly what happened with you can and does happen with every hire company, that's why it is best to try and avoid the desk if at all possible.

MCO does have swap lanes for Hertz I believe, as I am 5 Stars level I get to choose from that lane, which is always an upgrade from the mid size SUV that I normally book, but am sure there is a way of swapping.

In General I find Hertz cars , as good or better than Alamo, but none of them are fantastic in MCO and there are lots of older cars in all fleets.
