Is it worth upgrading our meals with Aer Lingus?
Flying LGW-DUB-MCO this summer with Aer Lingus. Have read a few posts on here about upgrading their meals but at around £20 each it's not cheap. Are the standard meals really that bad? Not that plane food is ever great but it needs to be at least half edible

We upgraded our meals and they were really nice.
Personally I think they were worth the money.

Last tîme we went I upgraded for himself and the child(cause I eat anything). Their food was lively, both had steak, comes with real crockery and cutlery, and a small bottle of wine. They were served before anyone else as well. I figured it was easier knowing they would defo eat it. Think I'll do the same this time-my food was lively though, just the normal meal. Actually ended up giving the wine to our plane seat neighbours cause neither of us were drinking(I might this time round! )

Food was acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Wine is about 6 euro I think, so might be worthwhile upgrading if you are going to have a drink anyway.
Don't bank on eating at Dublin as it takes a while to get through US pre-clearance. |

Hmmm think I'll have to stump up and pay! We did have 3.5 hours connection in Dublin which would have been enough time to get lunch but now only have 2h50 which may or may not be enough time. Does anyone know if the kids meals can be upgraded? Flying with with a ridiculously fussy 14 year old!

My daughter was 9 when we upgraded. They just gave us the wine. And laughed at the kid eating steak while I had pasta

on the way out, DH had the steak and I had the salmon and we really enjoyed both. Didn't upgrade coming back and SO regretted it. Don't know if we were unlucky but it was just horrible.

2hours 50 mins will be more than enough to have a bite to eat before you fly, though the options are not great, the " food court " place is rough as hell, really nothing about it, it has 2 places downstairs that are much better
the standard food was " airplane standard " on our flights, one was a veg curry, all of my family couldnt eat it, so i had 2 others it was food, thats about all you can say |
