As this thread has gone on my plan has changed. Now...

Im going to check in online and get the mb sent to a personal shopper who will deliver them for $15 ish to my hotel. So i wont ever even go to the campsite.

But if you do go to pick them up i cant see why they would care. You have paid for it. So what if you dont stay there?

When you drive in you stop at a hut. They just pass over your magic bands and paperwork so you don't need to go to office

Does anyone know if you can "upgrade" the free magic bands to the character bands ?

Also if you want to collect the bands at the campsite, can you park there for the whole day and get the boat to MK ? And same in the evening on the way back ? Does the boat run early on extra hours days ?

No, unfortunately you can't upgrade magic bands.
Yes, you can park there the whole day and the next day (although we didn't do this). When you collect magic bands, you are given a paper parking pass for the campsite (your parking pass for the parks is automatically on your ticket/magic band)

It is just 180 plus 1 day but did mean I could get BBB in the castle for my daughter a couple of years ago

And at the end of the day this is why airlines and hotels overbook. They know a certain percentage of people won't turn up for their booking.

Final question from me...

When arriving at the campsite to collect magic bands and check-in, do all members of the party have to be present? Or could one person turn up to collect them all?
