Something Very Different
The very first camera I ever purchased with my own hard earned money was a Pentax ME Super. It was a fabulous film camera that served me well back in the 80's.
I had a thought the other day to build a Table Lamp and thought it would be a nice idea to use some nostalgia and make it out of my first camera. Unfortunately I didn't have my actual camera so I found one needing repair on a well known auction site for the measly sum of £10. I purchased a cable and a retro style lightbulb then set about creating my desk lamp. The Pentax ME Super Not sure what faults the camera has but it clearly has a cracked mirror Camera and Parts First job was to dismantal the lens so I could fit the lamp holder Dismantled lens. Trial fitting the cable and lamp holder Next job was to destroy the camera, had to remove the shutter and mirror to allow cable access. Then had to get the dremel out and cut a slot for the cable and also drill a hole. Cable fitted Holder and cable fitted to lens and lens mounted back on camera. Lamp fitted. Testing I just now need to find a nice wooden tripod.

What a great idea! As a child I used to love taking things like clocks to bits to see what went on inside, I could never get them back together though

That is very clever, Stu. Have you been taking lessons from Steve Fletcher from the Repair Shop?
Our ME Supers are stashed in drawers under our bed. Great camera. Edited at 07:55 PM. |

Love watching the Repair Shop, I wouldn’t have the patience or the skills to repair most of the things they tackle.
