Just adding one more... my DD studied Sport & Excercise Science at Oxford Brookes. Some of their facilities were originally used for Olympic athlete training. A couple of her friends have continued on to Physio Post-grad. It’s a lovely place to study.

Huge difference between the 2 in that being a physio means becoming registered to practice with the health care professions council. If it helps at all we have a lot of students come to us that have done sports science then realised that they wanted to be a physio so in effect they could have saved themselves £50,000.

My DD is starting her physiotherapy degree next week at Cardiff University. All universities require students to have completed work experience prior to applying, this could be hospitals, doctors surgeries or sports teams. Good luck xx

I always thought Loughborough was very well rated for sports science and sports related degrees

My son has just gone of to Hull Uni to study Sports Rehabilitation, he looked at physiotherapy and knew he was unlikely to get the grades so was going to not go when we found these courses. He also had no interest working in a hospital doing physio with (for example) stroke survivors so this seemed like a good option for him. Whilst his course won’t make him a Qualified physiotherapist he will become accredited to BASRAT so can practice in sports rehabilitation. There are several Unis that do similar courses look on UCAS for sport rehabilitation or sports therapy, entry requirements are generally BBB-BBC type level. He’s just doing introductory stuff at the moment as the course hasn’t started so can’t comment on that yet but he’s really enthusiastic about it which is great as when he finished his A Levels in 2019 he had had enough of studying.
