When DH and I go away we really only like each others company - although we will obviously talk to others and we have actually made some very good friends - one from the DIBB and one where we sat together for dinner on a tasting menu evening!

We've done 3 cruises now and really love that way of holidaying - you get to see lots of fabulous places with only unpacking once. Plus we've always had tables for 2 - we found we would sometimes make small talk with our "neighbours" but you certainly dont have to and lots of nights we didn't talk to anyone.
Its no different to sitting next to someone in a "normal" restaurant!

We also do our own thing on port days - we avoid organised excursions like the plague - other than in St Petersburg where you have to go on an organised tour!

There are several cruise lines who will do suites and butlers for that extra luxury!

We love Thailand for amazing hotels - we also went to Elephant Nature Park where the care for rescued elephants and you get to spend the day with them - you can also volunteer and stay overnight!

If it was me if I could get First at a "decent" price then it would be first and an outstanding hotel.

Given that getting a first class seat at a decent price could be difficult i'd go for PE and outstanding hotels!

Two of the best hotels we have ever stayed in were in Bangkok - Banyan Tree and Chiang Mai - for the elephants - the Anantara Chiang Mai.

Simply outstanding!

Happy planning xx

Thank you for that. We went to the Anantara in Chang Rai, it was then called the Baan Boran. We had a view of 3 countries it was so wonderful... that has now made me think of returning there as a memory, but don't know if we could bear the long flight. xx

So Mauritius is definitely out thanks. So is Greece a country we used to love for a while, Spain, India. I know abuse happens everywhere, but I have to be a little careful as I want this to be a wonderful holiday and not a holiday filled with tears.

Thanks for the ideas. Keep em coming.

Has anyone been to Barbados ?

One my best friends currently lives in Barbados with work and LOVES it... the pics are wonderful!

A place that is ni on top of my bucket list for a holiday like you’ve described is St Lucia.

St. Lucia is lovely, but I think Antigua is better. xx
