I'm not a fan either to be honest but it seems to be expected in my place and since i'm still the new one I kind of felt obligated to take part - managed to pull my managers name out of the envelope and totally stuck on what to get him! Last time I took part in secret santa was not long after my daughter was born and my manager at the time bought me a box of condoms, which he thought was hilarious

I agree, I hate Secret Santa or any kind of present swapping with people I dont know, I am afraid that also includes Dibb swaps (but I understand others enjoy it so everyone is different).

I totally fail to understand the need to spend money on 'stuff'. I am not short of money I just hate this type of spending.

I've recently moved concession in the store I work in and they are doing secret santa, but we were asked if we want to join in or not, I said yes I got my manager who has just left but still coming on works party, she likes a drink so hers is easy to sort and stick to the budget lol. Things like this though should never be assumed everyone wants to join in, some people don't even celebrate Christmas and might be miffed?

£10 is a bit much.
We do it as a bit of a laugh and the limit is £3.

Just give them a note saying they've been a naughty boy or girl this year and they're getting nothing.

I like secret Santa and I think £10 is about right. I can’t remember whether I a usually asked to partake or not (not in work this year).

It's my first Christmas at my new place of work - I've been there 11 months now. They (all men as it's mostly men in the team) said, shall we do Secret Santa, to which I immediately replied "Nope. I'm not buying plastic tat to be thrown in the sea" I do have a better excuse that I'm finishing in work on the 6th and not returning until 2nd January.
