Using an Ipod at the reception.
Has anyone done/planning to do this?
We are having a steel band band play for a while before and after the ceremony, but our package includes an MC and DJ which we don't really want. DH2B isn't one for the limelight so would hate an MC shouting 'The bride and broom' etc. Also our type of music probably wouldn't be in the DJ's collection, we like Oasis, Artic Monkeys and all that sort of stuff (not forgeting a bit of Michael Jackson ). If funds allow we will have a live band play, I don't think this can be beaten. But if we can't stretch to it would like to create a playlist for the ipod. I'm just worried there will be no atmosphere doing it this way |

We are having a sting quartet at the cermony and because they cost so much we are having an ipod playlist at the drinks reception and wedding breakfast. The evening will be a DJ. I'd love a live band too, but we just cant afford it. The DJ is allowing us to have a say in the music and we can tell him to play what we like. I'm also planning on asking the guests - perhaps in the invites - what song they would like to hear too so theres something for everyone.

That's a good idea to include the guests, I think I'll do that too, thanks

Getting a play list to a DJ is really important. You have to remember that there is a difference in music from the US to the UK so if you like certain songs/groups request them prior to your event on the chance they need to get them for you.
