Subway is super easy and cheap to do and is probably the quickest way of getting into Manhattan. However, we have also used NYCAirporter and they have been excellent.

We have taken a taxi..pick up buses etc..but two week ago for the first time...we got the Air train to Jamaica and then the underground to Port Authority by Times Square ...it was easy and cheap.

I've used Go Air Link (booked through Attraction Tickets Direct) in 2018 and Super Shuttle last year - Both worked really well

We did the $70 yellow taxi route! It was really iconic too getting straight into a New York taxi, loved it!

All the above options are good.

I have organised JRLuxuryNYC for work trips for others a few times. Have also used for us for a return trip once. Yes, it was moderately expensive in comparison to the prices and options quoted above, but there were 5 of us with loads of luggage and I fancied a treat.

If you fancy a treat yourself I would recommend their service. Very professional.

We've used the train but I personally found it a struggle on the subway with our cases, so after that experience we have always used Super Shuttle.
You can pre-book on their website, I find it so much simpler.

I use a Yellow taxi when I'm with family as its the most convenient. I've made two solo visits and I have caught the airtrain to Jamaica then train to Manhattan. It's a bit of a pain remembering where to get tickets etc

You don't need a ticket until you arrive at Jamaica station, there are machines before the gates and plenty of staff to help. If you prefer a person to a machine, go to the little news shop to the left of the gates they will sell you what you need and you also save the $1 charge for a Metro Card if you buy from the shop.
