Where to go on holiday?!
Getting stuck for ideas on where to go with our BA 2-4-1 voucher. Want to go next April (ish) as that's when the voucher expires so need to decide and book in the next few weeks. It'd just be me and DW - no kids. 5, 6 or 7 nights.
Things we've considered: Mauritius - Very hard to get the availability on the flights, little bit concerned I'd be a bit bored. Don't know much about it, not sure how expensive hotels will be (trying to keep that cost down a bit!). San Francisco - Strong contender but want to go there with DS as well. San Diego - Ditto. We want to do a proper west coast trip at some point doing this and SanFran (of course that may never happen, who knows?!). Las Vegas - Went a couple of years ago but do really want to go back. Advantage of cheap hotels. Disadvantage that DW is not that keen to go back (but probably wouldn't mind). Have considered a dual-stay San Fran/Vegas trip. Miami/Keys - Only thought of this a couple of days ago. Could work. Florida West Coast - Only thought of this yesterday. Only downside is it's close to Orlando where we'd be this August anyway and we should probably explore other parts! Any other suggestions?!

Boston with a trip to Cape Cod? New Orleans then a drive further into Louisiana to visit Baton Rouge/some Plantations? Memphis and Nashville? Texas - Austin & Fort Worth? Edited at 10:23 AM. |

The New Orleans and Memphis/Nashville ideas are definitely worth considering, thanks! Been to Boston already, but Cape Cod might be interesting!
Been there a few times Not sure what you can actually do there?!

We loved SAN Antonio last year our first visit to Texas , so much so we are going to Austin , Fort Worth and a day trip to Dallas and then over to Miami and returning to Marco island on the gulf coast
This is booked Via BA website flying on AA We also went back to Vegas the year before last and drove up to Red rock canyon and over to the canyons of Utah which were stunning , combined it with a self tour of the Grand Canyon for three days Edited at 11:20 AM. |

We have been to Thailand and Malaysia before. Would like to go back one day, but not sure I want to go that far just for 5 nights. Might think about it though!

Yeah we did Red Rock when we went to Vegas. Would like to drive a bit more out there - if we did go back we'd definitely do some more driving. We flew to the South Rim - amazing!
I keep ignoring Texas... maybe I shouldn't!

I love Mauritius but I wouldn’t travel 12 hours for a short break, I’d personally want longer for it to be worthwhile. If that doesn’t bother you though it is a beautiful island, Port Louis the capital is worth a visit it’s pretty busy with street markets etc. There is the 7 colours of sand (more interesting than it sounds!), botanical gardens, a waterfall, black river gorges national park. There are glass bottomed boat rides which are nice or if you prefer to be in the water snorkelling. The beaches are beautiful and hotels are equally as luxurious but I suspect it terribly cheap. The people are very friendly but as with a lot of places there are some very poor areas so something to be aware of.
Good luck with your planning, I have struggled with places to go for a week in April so let us know what you decide! |
