But if have a voucher obviously only limited to booking through KLM again when could be cheaper elsewhere, also if anything happens to Virgin then the KLM flights will be very limited.

Any ridiculous statement such as “we don’t do refunds” need to be followed by “oh so can you just clarify that you are deliberately breaking the law, specifically EU261?”

We have got through on the phone to KLM and they are not budging re refunds.
They told us the voucher is valid for one year, for booking, not travel. So you have a year within which to book flights and can travel after that date. That cleared it up as we thought the travel had to be within a year.
She also said if we didn't travel within the year, we would be entitled to a refund.
All good, except for the possibility of KLM going bust before we travel.

We tried that and they are not budging. To be fair the person you speak to on the phone has to go by what they are told.
