Mobile Magic Bands life span

We were in disney October 19 and purchased magic bands, we have booked again for October 21 and was wondering if the bands will still work or will we have to buy more?

the battery in the bands will last roughly 2 years

battery is only used for long range operations (automatically collect pictures on ride, locating you inside restaurants)

but they will still be good for every close range operation
so they'll still be good for park entry, FP+ validation, payment (if onsite)

and if you're onsite, you'll get new ones for free

As I understand it there are 2 aspects to the band. The tapping in/out of rides or scanning for photos etc is similar to tapping contactless cards (easiest way to describe it) the battery is for the RFID chip for location tagging/ride photos and videos, with the latter having a limited life.

Also our bands battery actually lasted around 3-4 years before it started playing up on ride photos. We then just remembered to take a photo of us coming off the ride so we had a time and what we were wearing and they managed to find us. I'd definitely save the money and just use the ones you have
