But flights out of Austin aren’t direct. Basically I have no idea what to do lol
If you are flying from Manchester look at Singapore Airlines flights from Houston. Not a huge drive from Austin I don't think?

We are going to Texas for first time late August and have picked up what I think are bargain flights Man-Hous @ £400pp direct inc luggage

Last year we drove from Orlando to New Orleans, then back. We stopped off at Panama City Beach for a couple of nights on the way to New Orleans then Destin on the way back. We had booked a hotel on the outskirts of New Orleans, we left the car there and used the trams to get about. I would never have driven there, let along in a RV.

We rented an RV sometime back in Florida. Toured down to Key West.

Sensational trip!

We used Cruise America. Pre-booked most of our campsites through koa.com. The Key West campsite was truly superb, our back wheels were yards from the sea & some great snorkelling!

It was epic!

Top tips:

Remember to shop enroute! Once on site packing everything up is a pain if you have to head back out!
KOA gives loads of info including on site shopping, if needed.
On pick up, or before, head to Walmart! Grab a cheapo memory foam mattress topper, sheets, douvet, pillows etc Trust me it's make the bed so much more comfortable!
(& you get the feel good factor of donating them to a homeless shelter when you leave!)
Make sure to tell your GPS you're driving an RV... backing up narrow roads against the traffic is a challenge

I'd say go for it! We absolutely loved it, BBQ'd every night & remembered what it was like to actually switch off & relax!

Thanks for replying some great tips there! I’m going to look at the rental site and the Keys is where we’d love to go, sounds like you had a great time 😊

You’re very welcome! Hope you have a great trip whatever you decide to do!

Forgot to mention... buy one of those windscreen cleaning squidgy things on a pole! Those little black flies really hammer the front of an RV!

Safe travels!
