Classic Monsters Cafe - Universal Orlando
We went on a Wednesday just before noon (and accidentally followed it up with the Horror Make-up Show, which turned out to be a terrific pairing). At first I meant for us to eat outside as it was lovely and warm weather. A tour of sorts was called for before we ordered and so we walked into each themed room. The kids spotted the tv's playing clips of old horror movies and the decision was made to sit in The Crypt with our lunch. It was dark in there (if it was only me, I'd have chosen to sit in one of the brighter rooms).
I was feeling the need for something filling and The Mummy was calling, so I had the jackfruit bbq sandwich and the brussel sprouts. I thought the sandwich was perhaps too sauced and the portion of brussel sprouts was huge. Dd, who had planned to order vegan, was captivated by the names of the meals and had to order the Vampire (pulled pork bbq sandwich) with fries. Ds was starving and easily went for the Perilous Platter (two meats and two sides). He must have enjoyed the macaroni and cheese because that went down first, followed quickly by the fries. He had the brisket and the pulled pork and both were cooked just right and not overly seasoned. It was a hit! So for anyone enjoying a bit of "dark" theming, a throwback to the old horror movies (which my kids found hilarious) and a suitable and filling lunch, I would recommend the Classic Monsters Cafe. Go to the Horror Make-up Show right afterwards. And thank you, Rescuer, for going first! Ha!
