Cali Grill Dinner for Fireworks - What Time?

I'm planning to have dinner at California Grill so we can watch the fireworks during our meal - what's the best time to book for so we can do this, and would we still get a view of the fireworks if we didn't end up with a table by the window? Can you request a table by the window? (I suppose if you could, everyone would be doing that anyway.) I was thinking of booking for 8pm ready for the fireworks at 9pm but wanted to check.

We LOVE watching the fireworks from california grill BUT with that, I have to add the following.

yep, 8pm is perfect timing BUT everyone thinks the same, so earlier may get you a better chance at a better table. (but then you have to wait around a bit)

They seem to HATE people asking for a window table. For many many years, we've said "any chance of a window table? even if its after the fireworks because we like the view, and we don't mind waiting" and in the last few years they've been very snotty about it. We often get snapped at with a "we cant guarantee that" and of course we smile and say "no guarantee needed, just a polite request" but honestly, they really must get it all the time and so, yah know, it's awkward.

MOST places in the restaurant are actually ok to see the fireworks but if they sit you round the side, it can be hard, so if you really want to stay in your seat to watch, I would say something like "I know its a busy restaurant but if I could have any seat from which the fireworks are viewable that would be great" and then if they try and sit you round the back/side, say no I'll wait for the next table.

Finally, and most importantly, you can go out on either of the two walkways and watch the fireworks from there great views, very atmospheric and in most ways actually better than from your table.

If you tell the server that's what you're planning on doing, they'll actually time the meal coming out around the fireworks.

and finally finally, remember that if you have an earlier meal, you can show your receipt and go back up to watch the fireworks later from one of the walkways. This can be useful if all the fireworksy times are already booked up.

We have been to the California Grill twice in the evening And both times got a window table, but it was luck as we hadn’t requested it.

The second time we had a great fireworks view, but the first time we were at the far end of the restaurant with no fireworks view, so we went outside to watch them. To be honest I preferred watching them outside anyway.

We went in August and booked a table for 7.30pm and this was perfect. We had eaten our main course and ordered dessert by 9pm. We had our dessert after the fireworks. We were lucky enough to have a window table but I didn't request one. Once the fireworks started we went outside to watch them so unless you wanted to stay seated I wouldn't worry about this.
