Complete - Summer in the Wild West of Scotland - July 2019
Intro
So with no Florida trips on the horizon we looked into what else we might be able to do. By now it was the end of January and we were hearing loads about lack of availability and crazy prices for staycations. I’m a bit ashamed to admit that even though we live in Scotland my Scottish geography and ideas about where to holiday here are a bit limited. When Ds was little we had a week up in Brora on the East coast and Dh and I had done a wee easy coast road trip before but that was the height of my knowledge. We like cities and we like Orlando. I asked advice from some friends at work who holiday often in Scotland and the west highlands was suggested. I managed to find a few places that looked good on unique cottages (which was a website we were recommended) and asked a friend which destination she would pick and she said Ardnamurchan so I booked it. It was only later we realised just how far away it was 😂. Crazy if it had been Florida or a city break I’d have researched it to death before booking. I should really have called this clueless family book holiday to somewhere they know nothing about. 😂 We’d planned it for the second week of the school holidays and then I spent ages panicking that Ds or would be identified as a close contact in the week before school. Thankfully we weren’t. Usual cast, me (48), Dh (49) and Ds (13). Travel Day - Do we even know where we are going? Day 1 - Lost Again? Day 2 - There are no chicken exits here! Day 3 - What’s the story… Day 4 - Singing in the Sand… Day 5 - Sanaa but not as we know it. Day 6 - The Monster Midge Day 7 - Coming Down the Road Extra 3 day trip - Hot tub add on
