Sangria and a tray of crisps. Benalmadena. Nov 21. Day 2. Mijas and baroke
Saturday 27th November.
Index Another late start and beautiful sunrise. We went for breakfast around 9.30. The scrambled egg wasn’t very good so I left it. The plan was to visit Mijas today, a little village in the mountains. The others apart from Paul (he needs to rest his foot after an operation) were happy to join us. Matt and I want for a little walk after breakfast to look for tobacco for a friend. We also found out he bus times, we needed a number 121 and they went every 30 minutes. We met everyone else in the bar, had a couple of sangrias before catching the bus at 11.47. It was €3.40 for us both, one way. It took about 20 minutes to get there, a nice couple told us where to get off. It’s tiny but is really pretty with a fantastic view. We had a pit stop in the square. A sangria, 3 beers, vodka and Fanta was €15. You can hike down the mountain but at 2-3 hours we decided on the bus back. We had to wait about 10 minutes and we said bemalmadena getting on. This was a 103 so took us a different way, still through the main town but not along the seafront we needed. We jumped off and it was only a short walk. We passed windmill roundabout. Paul had found a bar nearly to watch football so we joined him, just had one drink here as the sun was setting and it really did turn cold. Back at the hotel the ladies hit the bar. 😂 This is a shot measure. The boys returned with news about rule changes for travel, I tried not to worry as A, I was drunk and B, no date had been set. We had dinner together. I loved this ice cream. Matt and Paul has got chatting to the landlady of the pub and she told them about a karaoke bar just off the seafront called baroke. Now, we all love singing, well apart from Matt. I have a stage name, sapphire sparkle. 🤣 Linda and Russell went back to the room as they were a little tipsy so the rest of us walked to the bar. It was fairly busy and I’m sure had locals but very friendly and welcoming. Karaoke started around 9.45, we got a drink, about €18 for 2 beers, a gin and lemonade and a rum and Diet Coke. Tracy and I made our choice and also one for us both. The singers were pretty decent here, always makes me nervous as I’m not a great singer, I just do some moves. Tracy was first, she sung Tina Turner, simply the best which she is really good at. Then I did Meghan Trainor, all about the bass. Matt took a video which I won’t subject you to but this is a screenshot. I didn’t manage to get changed again. 🤦🏻 They are very fair in the bar and once everyone has a turn it goes back to the beginning. Next Tracy and I did build me up buttercup and Paul also put his name down. About midnight, Matt and I left, Tracy said they went at 3am. It was a brilliant night, we had a dance and would definitely visit again.

Love Mijas, we were there in August, great views, walks, bars brilliant.
Must have walked past the Windmills a hundred times, great memories. Have you been to the Skybar at Las Arenas Hotel? Looks like you had a fantastic time. |

Mijas looks beautiful, is there a beach there? The sea looks so inviting and the buildings look so pretty in the sunlight 💞
You are brave singing karaoke, I would never have the courage even after a few drinks 😂 |

This was our first visit to Mijas, after my sister recommended it. So easy on the bus as well.
Haven’t heard of the sky bar but will put it on the list to do next time. |
