Quieter restaurants (off site)
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for restaurants that aren't too noisy, or alternatively anywhere that we should avoid? My son has a mild dislike of anywhere that plays loud music or is particularly raucous when eating. We're staying in a villa in Indian Ridge so we'd be looking to eat around Formosa Gardens and further east on the 192. Thanks! |

If you like Italian the Olive Garden might be a good choice, the one near us has a lot of separate seating areas rather than one big open space. (They may all be like this but we've only done ours). Definitely no music.

Sounds a bit obvious but if you can be flexible with meal times you will find places quieter before 6pm. On one night we stopped off at Longhorns on the 192 at 7pm and it was a 90 minute queue, on a chilly January monday night. We went back on a friday at 5:30 and it was half full.

I would advise heading WEST from Formosa Gardens not east. There are a huge number of restaurants within that mile. In the other direction most are much further and the choice is poorer in general.
The only extremely noisy one I can think of is Estefan's at Sunset Walk. They have live Latin music or a DJ and it is very loud despite the elegant and up market atmosphere. Most of the others aren't exactly quiet though. My daughter used to be very sensitive to noise. Would he consider carrying ear plugs just in case? She relied on them alot before she stopped being able to process most sound a few years ago.

As Donna says I'd certainly head west from FG towards the Rolling Oaks area on 192 and we regularly eat at Carrabbas's (Italian) and Bonefish Grill (Not surprisingly fish ) which are usually quiet.
Avoid Texas which, although the steaks are good, can be incredibly noisy and has got worse in recent years. Longhorn is pretty tolerable noise-wise and the steaks are good. Red Lobster is another fish place on the junction of 192/Formosa Gardens Bvd and usually quiet. We always eat around 6 pm and only two of us and never waited more than 15 minutes at Longhorn. Mick

Millers Alehouse can be very loud, Perkins, Denny's and Logans Roadhouse all have a pleasant atmosphere.

Thanks everybody - I think I misplaced Formosa Gardens, I thought it was where Rolling Oaks is so the areas given are about right. I'll take this on board, he's ok with busy restaurants as long it's just conversation but it's good to know where the noisier places are.

Technically Formosa Gardens Plaza is the small plaza where Outback/Taco Bell and TGI Fridays are. Formosa Gardens area includes the winery and the closest residential subdivisions.

Our only Burger place when we don't have the appetite for Longhorn, Carrabba's and Bonefish et al.
All cooked to order and their fish & chips and frozen custard pretty good as well. Briggykins A bit further west at the 192/Westside Bvd junction. Mick
