So sad.

2 months ago I got a messenger message from a gentleman saying he believed I was his niece. His dad was my dads dad who left when my dad was 17 as he’d got lady another pregnant. This was in the 50’s so very different to today.
Mr grandad who I never met went on To have 2 sons and this message was from the youngest son.
I broke this news to my dad who was delighted to find 2 (half) brothers he never knew about.
I organise zoom call on Boxing Day, and only last week they had a 47 minute video call.
Today I received a message to say he’d passed away. Suddenly.

I’m beyond upset at the thought of telling my very elderly dad that his youngest brother has died.

Although we’d never met, I felt deep sadness this morning when I was told.

So sad to have found a brother and uncle only to have lost him again so suddenly.

Awe it so sad. I have been investigating our family tree. My nan had my dad in 1944 by a us serviceman. Luckily she had family support but she never married and never had any more children. We were never told about my grandad. My dad never knew who he was . I found online an old paper report that she had taken this man to court and won. He went back to the US and married a woman from the village next to my nan. They had a girl and 2 boys. Unfortunately my dad passed away when he was 69. He always thought he was an only child. I found out my grandad was from Kentucky and have been looking at his family . I wonder if they ever knew .
My nan even used my grandads name as my dads middle name.
