Our first European rollercoaster adventure - Day 2 Frankfurt

Day 2 - 13th November

After a good nights sleep we went down for breakfast (free as we’re gold members). I love the lifts here, they’re on the outside of the building so you can see out but they were a tad cold!

The breakfast buffet was good with plenty of choice and the restaurant was pretty quiet.

We couldn’t resist sharing a waffle!

We checked out, storing our luggage and headed out to explore Frankfurt. I loved some of the art work and architecture.

We walked to Romer, which was beautiful. I could have spent hours here looking at the buildings, but we headed to the iron bridge to see all the locks then walked along the river.

We had a snack at a little cafe (had to have an Orangina while in Europe!) then walked back to the hotel to pick up our bags and to the station.

We bought sandwiches to eat on the train then boarded our first ice train.

It was busy as it was a Saturday but was bang on time. The DB app was amazingly helpful, it alerted us when the train arrived and told us exactly where to catch our connection, and even where to stand on the platform.

We connected at Offenburg with no problem and arrived at Ringsheim station which was just a short walk from the Holiday inn express. The hotel was nice and clean, there wasn’t a lot of dining options around so grabbed tea from the local supermarket, think I had sushi and pretzel bread!

We had planned a euro rail trip for 2020 which went to pot! Maybe 2022?! Maybe 2042?! 😳
