Confused - magic bands and fastpass

We are just going to Epcot this year. We were last in Orlando in 2014 they are linked to MDE but will they work?

We last went 2015, our magicbands are linked to my account but I'm going on the assumption that the batteries are only designed to last two years, so they won't work (fully)
Therefore if anyone wants a magicband then we're going to buy some more this trip and link them.

Magic bands will work if the battery runs out just means you won’t get the ride video and you might need to tap for the ride photos, we always tap for these now anyway after getting a different families ride photos one year

I'm not bothered about the photo's just wondered what I use if they don't work.

If your magic bands don't work you can do 2 things:
1 - buy new magic bands
2 - use your normal plastic ticket card

The only thing that won't work is the long range stuff i.e. ride videos.

They should always work as your ticket, FP, ADR and for scanning photos at the end of rides/photographers.

There are only 4 rides (I believe) that offer the ride video, so it's not a big deal. You can just buy one new band for $15.97 to capture those.

I haven't got a plastic card only an e mail ticket. Hence why I think I'm getting confused how it'll work.
Surely I haven't got to use these tickets all day?

Our 5 year old bands worked fine last year even for the videos!

You will need a plastic card, you can exchange at guest services or will call. I’ve always had to exchange for the cards, but your bands should still work except for getting ride videos and where photos magically appear without tapping.
