Best American cake mixes to bring back home x
Hi guys me with a few more questions once again, so many cake mixes we can't get back here, for instance, I love banana pudding, but can't make it at home as it mentions vanilla biscuits? Haven't a clue what the substitute would be in the uk, so never got to make my fav pudding 😥 can't buy the cake mix in the uk for it, so hopefully I can bring a stash home with me,so guys what are the best cake mixes to buy ? Any suggestions? Xx

Banana pudding doesn't use a cake mix, it's just pudding mix that you mix with milk. I'm sure it's available in the UK. Nilla Wafers are used and you can take those home, they are sold in most supermarkets.

I always bring back Angel Food cake mix (because it's such a hassle to make from scratch - it uses 12 egg whites!), German Chocolate Cake Mix (for "Yummy Caramel Bars") and Funfetti Cake Mix (the one with the rainbow flecks, it's my DS' favourite).
If your family likes pound cake, that's another good one to bring back - there are also some pumpkin cake mixes out around Halloween (one of my girlfriends buys MANY of these every year so that she can make the cake any time). SOMETIMES, you can get decent prices on American mixes on Amazon - but not usually. Happy baking! |

Ooh banana pudding is our absolute favourite. I buy the instant vanilla pudding mix when I'm either in the states, from the American shops here or sometimes off Amazon. We either do the same with the Nila vanilla wafers or I bake them. There really simple. If you Google Nila vanilla wafers recipe, there's loads to choose from x

Related question. I see American cake recipes on Pinterest that include 'yellow cake mix' or 'white cake mix' but I haven't a clue what these are - texture, sponginess, flavouring etc. Can anyone advise ?

This is yellow cake mix:
You can usually get it on Amazon - just search for yellow cake mix. White cake mix is the same, but as mentioned above - you don't add egg yolks. So you can use the mixes interchangeably - if you have a white cake mix and use whole eggs - you'll get a "yellow cake", and vice versa. Yellow cake mix is the base of Liberty Tree Tavern's Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. |
