Mobile Supermarket prices & quality of food

Hi, it's our first visit to the USA & Florida. I'm going to take a picnic into Disney and wanted to know what the price of food in the supermarkets were and also the quality of the produce. Thanks 😁

Prices in supermarkets are very expensive compared to here, they always have been but have increased significantly in the last year or so.

We've always found it's just as cheap to eat out, but then I'd never go to the faff of making and taking a picnic either.

Walmart is like Asda but more expensive and Publix is better IMO bit like M&S.

Hi
They are very expensive, and we always struggle to find ham etc we would want to eat, the bread rolls are not great, we always end up with peanut butter which don't really eat here and getting some side orders and drinks in the park, we did take refillable water bottles with us, and the really neat squash you can buy in tiny bottles as the water doesn't taste great on its own. Last time we were off site I brought 3 suitcases of food with us, I think we have paid up to £4 before for a loaf of bread in the supermarkets there x

Of course you could always get a ready made sub or have one made to your liking , or ready to go salad from Walmart or Publix at their deli sections. No hazzle and a lot cheaper than the parks.

Agree food is expensive though. $3.29 for an Italian loaf that is nearer a UK small to get bread than tastes more like the UK rather than the super sweet bread they seem to sell.

Wal-Mart does French and Peurto Rican loafs (sticks) for $1. These are freshly baked without all the preservatives so will only stay fresh for a day or so. They are not as sweet as the other bread.

Meats/cheeses are better from the deli counter. Publix does Boars head which is more expensive but nice quality. Wal-Mart does several brands including Sara Lee cooked meats that have no fillers and no MSG. For instance, cooked turkey prices average $6-7 per pound for the Sara Lee compared to $9-10 per pound for Boars Head.

We loved Publix! We got their chicken and 2 sides deal one night, definately could not have ate out cheaper than that. Pizzas were nice too. We did eat out most of the time but when the hurricane was coming we stocked up for a couple of days.

Target - good value and selection. More upmarket than Walmart which can be very rough late at night

For sandwiches to take into the parks, Panera Bread is good. You can get them to go & cheaper than eating in the parks if you want to take with

we find Walmart and target fairly good points to shop

we just buy " snacks " for the parks, tubes of Lays and "oat / cereal bars " and of course the drinks, a crate of water and a few box's of cans of pop / soda

then we buy some danish pastries for breakfast, normally a few fresh one's, the tear and share cinnamon buns are nice, then a few " packed " ones, these will have dates on them for the whole trip, they are sealed individually and last week

the tubes of Lays were $1 each, a 36 bottle pack of water was about $7 - $8 , the soda is normally on offer

last trip while staying at the marriott cypress harbour, our DD wanted some plain pasta for tea, so we grabbed that, then she said she fancied a cheese sandwich, so we got some cheese and bread ( now the cheese and bread wasnt cheap ) but we had it for toast one morning, so it got used up
