Uber Questions 123

So i have looked at uber rates and they seem really good. So these are my questions:

1) What is the Uber x service like ?
2) Will Be going with a toddler (2yrs) is there anyway of requesting a carseat?
3) how quick is uber with placing the request to taxi arriving?

Any help would be great Thanks

unfortunately there isn't any way of requesting a car seat with Uber as far as I'm aware, which is a shame, because I used it in August in Orlando and its a fabulous service.

I'm sure a lot will have a car seat but there is no guarantee and all the app does it put you in contact with the closest driver so you won't know until they get there. If you need a car seat you will have to either book an ordinary cab (and ask) or take your own with you

One option would be to buy one of those kids rucksacks that have a booster built in when opened out - would be better than having nothing (think Trunki make one and some other brands).

I believe the new 2015 rules state that a 2-year-old has to have a full car seat. I don't think boosters are allowed at that age. Pretty sure you'd have to take one OP.

We used uber last month and they were great! We used them on the nights we were going to hhn. We stayed at Art of Animation and were picked up in less than 5mins then picked up from universal at about 2am and only had to wait a couple of minutes. It cost us around $13 between Disney and universal which is amazing considering last time mears was $35 +tip!

From a Florida Police Department site:

Florida law requires children under 5 years of age to be properly restrained no matter where they are seated in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier (child safety seat) or in a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children ages 4 - 5, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used. If a safety belt does not fit the child correctly, a booster set should be used to correctly position the lap and shoulder belts once they outgrow forward facing child safety seats (generally at about 40 pounds and 4 years old). Children from approximately 40-80 pounds and under 4'9" in height should ride in a booster seat.

So you need a "proper" child seat until they are 3 years old - after that they can use a booster.

I would never use a "second hand" child seat - no way of knowing if it has been involved in a crash before and therefore no longer structurally safe. Looks like you need to take your own seat or buy one over there

For a 2 year old it is exactly the same as nothing. The law requires a full car seat precisely because a booster seat offers no protection (I haven't researched it but I can imagine a seat belt for a 2 year old is even worse than no seat belt at all).

Even a minor road accident could cause severe injury or death for an infant not secured correctly. Get the right transport with a full car seat with properly adjusted restraints for your little one.
