Article in the Financial Times. Really hope it's not just scare mongering - not sure what to think tbh

How horribly cynical.

They will only "do nicely out of it" if the share price improves. If the company folds, then they will lose all that money.

Directors buying shares in their own company during bad times has long been used as action to try and indicate long-term confidence to others, most notably employees, who will be anxious.

"We're putting our money where our mouth is - we're going to do our best that we come out of this the other side" is the message being imparted.

I think you will probably find that this applies to nearly all companies worldwide at the moment, unless you make loo roll and hand sanitisers..

Our son was talking about this yesterday. He is a Licenced engineer and at the moment is on a 777 course. He has some lads with him who have only been with the company for 3 months, they will be the first out of the door. Lucky for Simon he is a team leader and there is only 5 on each shift, but he has said that they do have a number of aircraft on the ground at Heathrow and there is no overtime at the moment.

Keeping fingers crossed for the company, staff and us getting back from Florida.

As an LAE I’d say he should be fine. They are struggling to attract and retain the ones they have so can’t see them letting any of those guys go.

When I booked our flights to Toronto there was a extra insurance that was for the airline folding, Netflights laughed and said BA aren't going to fold. We both laughed on the phone, now something else to worry about, I know my flights aren’t important and there’s a bigger picture but it is to me. 🤯

I don't think they will fold, but my son is cabin crew, so it's a bit worrying. He's been with them for a few years and he is Mixed Fleet, which he has told me is the most versatile, so hopefully won't get the chop, but cabin crew wage is paltry if they are not flying.
