At Manchester last month, they made me and my husband take all our jewellery and watches off, what made it worse was I had packed the jacket I had brought to cover the tray so it was all exposed loose in the tray, it was so stressful as hubby got pulled for extra checks so I had to try and get two trays, my handbag and two suitcases myself. Luckily everything was there but never again- I would maybe lock everything in the cabin cases until we are through next time but I guess someone could still walk off with the bag.

In Orlando they just asked for shoes and belts to be removed.

When we travel with granddaughter there's always a kerfuffle over the ice packs that her medicine has to be kept with.

Tom Oatibix is like Weetabix but less soggy and more filling.

We now have a system that works for us as a couple.

I do my case first and put the Kindle, iPad and Tens machine in a separate tray as it was always the Tens machine that caused my bag to be sent for further screening.

My thinking is the Kindle is old and worth maybe £10, the Tens machine is worth about £20 and my iPad is so old it's coal powered!

I am then through that arch as fast as I can be.

My Wife invariably gets held up due to her bra activating the arch.

However I am through and collect all our stuff. Her iPad is new as is her phone in the bag and those are the items I am concerned about.

I am amazed though at how much stuff I see in the little trays. Wallets bulging with cash, expensive gold watches etc.

Have to have eyes like a hawk.

Your wife's bra sets off the alarm? Goodness me that's embarrassing!

Sue. Only when I am wearing it.

I know little about these things but I do see a number of Ladies standing to one side and the female security staff using a wand around their chest area so I suppose it must be quite common.

I sometimes get pulled as I have a big piece of metal surgical mesh in my groin. They just pat me down and again use the wand.

Dreadful. Though I have had issues in France (once in Toulouse and once in CDG) when security told me I had to throw all the insulin away before being allowed in the plane... obviously I argued and was allowed on but was glad I had the GP letter I’ve carried since the syringe incident!

I was told it's usually M & S underwired ones that set the alarms off.
