I think £30 sounds fine - sounds like it is a pretty low key event.
Hope you have a nice time.

I think £30 is fine.
We went to DH nieces wedding 2 years ago we hadn't seen her for about 18 years and gave £50.

Honestly give whatever you feel comfortable with - £30 sounds fine.

We got a mix of nothing to around £100 and to be honest I can't even remember who gave what now (we noted it down for thank you cards then could never remember)

We gave £30 to a school friend a few years ago. Someone OH sees once a year if that but we were invited as they have been friends for so many years so a bit similar.

We are getting married in September and if someone gives us £30 we will be very grateful, I think it is a generous gesture no matter what the amount!

It would be unusual for a wedding to be done and dusted in 2 hrs, unless they are just having the ceremony and photos and no meal?

Our wedding was at 1pm, the meal was at 3.30 and the evening do 7pm til midnight

Etiquette states that gifts (or cash) should be the equivalent cost of the meal.
So if its a classy hotel maybe 50 a head and decreases.
That said im sure if they ve asked for cash off everyone im sure it ll just be a number on a pad and not a "omg sheila ONLY gave us £10" kind of moment iyswim..

This is what we would do - £100 if invited to the wedding and £50 if not.

Is there no meal? They will do photos before the meal and that can take forever. I think because the ceremony is quite late, the evening would be implied almost.
