Well done to your Dad. Just shows what can be done if you put your mind to it and shame your SIL hasn’t followed his example.

That's brilliant news, and great motivation for this 62 year old. I'm at the point whereby my meds have been slightly reduced, so going in the right direction. The problem is we fly out on Thursday for three weeks...….

That's marvellous. I'm type 2 myself but overweight, this is going to spur me into action.

That is a fantastic achievement and something that should be a inspiration to others who need the motivation to achieve what he has done.

What fantastic story and amazing success for your dad. I was a badly controlled type 2 for many years as I never had any symptoms of Diabetes so it was very easy to ignore as other than getting told off for bad blood test results and a telling off from the Dr it was easy to be in denial.
Last September I started feeling rough and I started worry about unseen damage, the Dr also wanted me to start with weekly injections which I really didn't fancy so decided to try and do something different. I had done low carb diets before and found them hard to stick to as I soon got bored of eating rubber chicken and nuts and only managed to stick to them for a couple of months before giving up. While researching low carb I came across Keto and decided to give it a try. By December my HBA1C went from 58 to 42. I was taken off the majority of my meds at this point and in March my HBa1c was down to 38 which is normal non diabetic range so I was taken off the rest and I'm now in control by managed diet. Slightly worried about spending 3 1/2 weeks in Florida this summer and I do intend to enjoy myself but doing so conscious that I have a diet that I know I can stick to and that works when I return.
