Regardless of the t&c's, you need to have a heart made of ice not to even consider trying to help. There isn't a business on the planet that hasnt moved mountains to help. I also understand they are corporate companies with financial power, but even down to self employed businesses, at least try and negotiate a solution for everyone.

Reading this with shock and interest.

I would most definitely spend a couple of hundred pounds on some very good legal advice on this. Interest to know what the credit card company said in order to turn down the sec 75..

I think it is very clearly not a S75 or chargeback situation. The provider has not reneged on their side of the deal. The OP not being able to get there would normally be more of an insurance scenario, however in this case OP has indicated that their cover did not extend to this.

As has been mentioned up thread, the only avenue that I can see is leveraging the correspondence (at the time the balance was paid) in which they were told that they could rebook should they be unable to travel.
