Weight struggles

For as long as I can remember- in adult life anyway - I've found it far too easy to put weight on. So prior to covid I made a conscious effort to shift it until lock down happen and this became the start of a very slippery slope.

I must have put 2 stone on since the pandemic started. I know I need to exercise but I'm am finding it difficult to get motivated because it is an effort to get myself moving.

Am I alone in this struggle ?

Me too. About 21 lbs since last March

I know how to lose it, I just can't motivate myself.

I just can’t be bothered, food is my friend and going on holiday was my incentive to get fit. Uk holidays don’t count I know I want to look good in pictures when we go abroad. We just went to the pub and I had hunters snichzel and chips and mushrooms In garlic and it was amazing! Sorry I haven’t been any help but I feel your pain x

Not alone. I lost 3 stone for DD’s wedding five years ago and put back on one and a half stone over lockdown. Managed to lose the half but a stone to go. Good resolve everyone who’s trying

This is me. I need a miracle. I hate when I try and nothing happens then I just give up. And I hate when I’m on a diet grudging everything that goes in my mouth.
I’m just trying to not eat too much garbage so I don’t go any higher. I have lost about half a stone but honestly need at least another 2.

I'm in the exact same boat. The new year prior to the pandemic I'd made real changes, training at the gym 5 times a week, playing badminton and walking a lot. I was getting, fit, losing weight and feeling great... and then March 2020 happened, and now, 18 months later, I've put a load of weight on and really can't find the motivation to do anything about it.

I turned 40 in June, and each week I intend to finally get back to the gym and start eating better, but each week I just fail at it. Utterly depressing!

Yes me too! I gained ten pounds in lockdown, cannot shift it for the life of me, just don’t have the will to deprive myself of small pleasures. My live for the day attitude is making me fat!

I have always been overweight (well obese), and weight goes on so easily. Over the years I’ve lost loads and put it all back on. At the start of the pandemic, I started to comfort eat, and put on a stone. I bought a treadmill and was determined to get fit and lose weight. I started C25K, and amazed myself at completing it, but virtually stopped doing it, I’d lost about 1 stone at this point. Queue Xmas, and I ended up back at the beginning. I gave myself a good talking to, and have been calorie counting and restarted the C25K, and this time have kept up jogging 3 times a week. I also make sure I walk 10,000 steps a day (it gets me away from the laptop at lunch time and I feel so much better for getting some fresh air). So far I’ve lost 2.5 stone since January, with about 1 more stone to go (I’ll still be overweight, but not as much). Weekends are hard - I end up putting back on most of what I lost in the week - but I know this is a long term commitment, and not some short term fix.

What I’ve learned over the years, is that you can’t do it unless you’re ready to do it. I used to go to a weight loss club but gave up a couple of years ago. What I’ve learned since January is that I can do it on my own, with planning and recording what I eat. I use an app, which keeps me on track.

It’s really hard, particularly to keep it going, but it’s making that first step that’s the hardest.

I do a quote of the week on my board in my office - one recently was “don’t look back in a years time and regret not starting something today” - I’m so glad I made that step in January. (Sorry, just realised this has gone on much longer than I intended, and sounds a bit preachy!)

Me too, not due to lockdown though. I was a Postie and had lost like 20kg walking 10miles a day, then I had a long mental breakdown and a med I was put on made me gain 50kg.

I was already very overweight, though very active, and I was 176.3kg at the start of March this year. The first lockdown I lost 8kg but gained it all back once things opened up.

I lost and gained the same couple kilos a few times s8nce March but in the last 7 weeks I’ve lost 7.8kg.

So if I can get off my fat ass at 170 ish kg, you can with your less amount of weight. lol

Actually I did that 7.8kg with just changing my diet so you don’t even have to be active.

I’m trying to be motivational here but I don’t think it’s going very well.

Anyways, first session in 8 weeks with my pt tomorrow. Send help lol.

After I stoppped eating carbs and processed food weight control became a thing of the past for me

Dont get me wrong, I miss a biscuit or chocolate bar but not being over weight anymore is so much better than a minutes joy on a biscuit

One research scientist concluded there are no essential carbohydrates, unlike fats or protein, that said a lot to me
