I find genuine new posters just reply to existing threads until they get their confidence, but attention seekers come straight in with some over the top problems…I think they need professional help! The mods are very good at dealing and deleting them straight away.

A long career in sniffing out BS and trusting a source or not means I really can tell most of the time if a person is fake or real and same goes for a post - intuition

There's definitely a pattern to some of those posts. They are the ones that don't stay up long on here due to the hot moderating! (I was going to say hot moderators! )

People sometimes refer to fantasists on here, too, but I don't know how they know! X-ray vision? I take 99% of posts at face value, because I know I don't know! ...If you know what I mean!

I can spot them too, they're usually in general chat and it'll be a brand new member, or someone with just a few posts asking about what to do in a strange scenario.

I'll never respond if I don't think it's a genuine poster, even a questioning post whether they're genuine feeds the troll. I use the 'report post to moderator' button as soon as I see it.

Nope, you're not the only one!

I quite often have to edit my posts due to poor spelling and grammar. I write as if I'm speaking and it doesn't always read well.

If I am doing a really lengthy reply I put it on Word first and then F7 it. Only then do I post it on here.

I hasten to add that would be something like a trip report not just how to change a washer!
