I think it’s a good idea to get someone’s number for an emergency, how awful for you all but glad it’s sorted for now. I’m glad she is having a nice time apart from that x

Thank you all 🥰
We have set up her phone do that it accepts our numbers, thank you so much for this tip! She is now very upset, very embarrassed and feels very ill. So it’s definitely spoiled her first full day. I have told her to have some lunch then have a sleep. There is another fresher night in tonight, she currently doesn’t want to go but I said to see how she feels after a sleep and shower. She is like me and can’t drink, even a small amount really effects us. So she would be better off not drinking at all really. At least her university experience can only get better 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 |

Oh dear although buried in this all there’s a few blessings in disguise , you know the alarm works, you know the warden system works , she can’t not tell her flatmates now so if anything happens they know to tell paramedic etc she’s diabetic and you’ve found out her phone can be set up for you to get through in emergency if it’s on silent .
All things you’d have discovered over time probably but despite the scare you know those safeguards are in place. Poor girl, rubbish to be reminded so early on she needs to be careful even if it needed to happen eventually. Maybe she does need to be reminded that she needs to self manage or halls May decide she can’t stay there as it’s too much liability, might be a bigger incentive to be better with self management. My DD is 48, Type 1 diabetic for 38years, and she/we still have panics like that. Back then she was told to avoid alcohol as the symptoms of a hypo were similar to being drunk, especially if it could be smelt on the breath. Not good when you want to blend in. Hope your DD can get on top of things and feel comfortable telling friends etc. It's good that you have a backup at her accommodation.
Thinking of you. M

My heart goes out to you and your daughter but as others have said it is a valuable lesson learnt.
My youngest suffers from epilepsy and when we dropped her off for her first year at uni we also got all the girls in her rooms numbers. We also told them she suffered from epilepsy. They were all looking at us like we were mad 😄 we then did a test run and text them all before we left so they had our numbers too. The amount of times we used those numbers was unbelievable. As soon as you can't contact your daughter you instantly think the worst so we were forever phoning her pals. We all found it hilarious at the end.

This is exactly what I would have done , and what I would be trying to put in place if I was FT
My missus used to suffer from epilepsy and I would have been so much more settled if I knew there were people I could quickly get hold of if needed .
